Rush Bowls Opens in Edmonton

Colorado-based brand opens first of 10 Canadian locations

April 09, 2019 // Franchising.com // BOULDER, Colo. - Rush Bowls - a fast-casual chain known for its meals-in-a-bowl crafted from the finest fruits and vegetables, topped with granola and honey, and blended with protein, vitamins and other nutritious ingredients - is opening in Edmonton on April 8. This will be the first of 10 locations planned for Canada.

Located at 10404 82nd Ave. in Edmonton, the upcoming restaurant is owned and operated by local entrepreneur Matthew Wecker.

“I am excited to be the first to bring Rush Bowls’ nutritious on-the-go meals and healthy living mission to Canada,” said Wecker. “My family and I live a healthy lifestyle and we wanted to find a brand that shared those same ideals. We are thrilled to have the chance to introduce Rush Bowls to our community and encourage healthier habits, starting with Edmonton, while playing a part in propelling the brand to new heights.”

Propelling to new heights in nothing new to Wecker. Prior to franchising with Rush Bowls, Wecker was co-owner of a helicopter company, where he was also a helicopter pilot and instructor for six years. When searching for his next career move, Wecker looked back on his past, which Rush Bowls spoke to.

“I grew up in a farming community in Germany, where my mom ran an organic food store and café. I grew up working at her business and surrounded by the agricultural industry. It gives you an appreciation for nutrition and a greater connection to the food we consume daily,” added Wecker. “Rush Bowls understands those principles and it is reflected in its menu.”

Founded in 2004, Rush Bowls offers meals crafted from all-natural fruit, topped with organic granola and honey, and blended with protein, vitamins and other nutritious ingredients that taste delicious while promoting a healthy lifestyle. Customers can choose from over 40 signature bowls or all-natural smoothies made with fruit and vegetable bases, including acai, kale and avocado.

“Our number one priority is 100 percent all-natural nutrition, which makes Rush Bowls different from other grab-and-go concepts,” Andrew Pudalov, founder and CEO of Rush Bowls, noted. “Rush Bowls’ meals are crafted from the finest fruits and vegetables, with fresh toppings like organic granola, hand-grinded peanut butter and jam made in-house to ensure the highest quality and taste for our customers.”

Over the past 15 years, Rush Bowls has cultivated a loyal following with its menu specializing in healthy, all-natural, fruit-blended meals-in-a-bowl for those on the go. Bowls are also available in vegan, gluten-free, soy-free and dairy free options, and anything can be custom made to cater to any and all dietary needs.

“We are very excited for Matt’s opening of our first Edmonton location,” said Pudalov. “We are delighted with Rush Bowls domestic growth and are looking forward to our rapid expansion internationally into Canada.”
