Duck Donuts® Hosts Sweet Summer Beach Bash to Celebrate National Donut Day, June 7

All Locations to Showcase the Donuts of Summer with the Return of Fan-Favorite Orange Icing

May 29, 2019 // Franchising.com // MECHANICSBURG, PA - Duck Donuts, known for serving Warm, Delicious and Made-to-Order!® donuts, announced today it is ready to kickoff summer with a sweet National Donut Day Beach Bash. To celebrate, on Friday, June 7, every customer will receive one free bare, cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar donut, in-store only, no purchase necessary.

“As a brand that originated in the beach town of Duck, North Carolina, we felt it was only appropriate to pay homage to our roots and beach-inspired atmosphere with a unique Sweet Summer Beach Bash to celebrate our favorite day of the year, National Donut Day,” said Russ DiGilio, founder and CEO of Duck Donuts Franchising Company. “Our warm, delicious donuts are a vacation for your taste buds and we look forward to serving our classic donuts all day to our loyal customers!”

National Donut Day, which is traditionally celebrated on the first Friday of June, was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. To spread the excitement of the holiday throughout the community, stores will drop off donuts to The Salvation Army and other local businesses, schools, police stations, fire departments and more.

Made with fresh orange zest and juice, customers can enjoy the flavors of summer with the return of orange icing and continuation of Key lime, available at all locations June 3. Duck Donuts is also showcasing the donuts of summer in its limited-time Popsicle Assortment featuring ice cream-inspired donut combinations such as:

• Citrus Pop - Orange icing and lemon drizzle
• Neapolitan - Strawberry icing with Oreo crumbles and marshmallow drizzle
• Patriotic Pop – Glazed with patriotic sprinkles
• Key Lime Pie Pop – Key lime icing with graham cracker crumbs

Duck Donuts was founded in 2006 by Russ DiGilio in Duck, North Carolina. His intention? To solve a family vacation problem: “Our family wanted a place to buy warm, delicious and made-to-order donuts, and when we couldn’t find one, we decided to start our own.”
