DoubleTree by Hilton Continues Strong Global Development Through Second Quarter of 2019

With eight newly opened hotels, the brand opened its first property in Kazakhstan and increased its presence in Turkey, Canada, Mexico and the United States

August 13, 2019 // Franchising.com // MCLEAN, Va. - Following Hilton’s second quarter earnings update, DoubleTree by Hilton continues to report steady domestic and international growth, opening eight hotels in developing and bustling travel hubs around the world. The brand, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, now boasts more than 565 unique, upscale hotels across 47 countries.

DoubleTree continues to grow in top transit epicenters, welcoming travelers at their final business destinations or providing a warm stop while en route. For example, the brand’s recently opened DoubleTree by Hilton Newark Penn Station property is strategically situated near Penn Station, Port Newark and Newark Liberty International Airport – the transit outlets of the busiest trade hub in the world.

For guests headed on vacation or leisure travel, DoubleTree continues to bring comfortable accommodations to growing international tourism hot spots. New properties like DoubleTree by Hilton Istanbul Esentepe and DoubleTree by Hilton Afyonkarahisar bring the brand’s hospitality to destinations like Turkey, a country that brought in more than 40 million tourists in 2018 and continues to grow.

As the brand reflects on 50 years, DoubleTree also achieved several brand milestones this quarter. In June, it revealed its first property in Kazakhstan with the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Almaty at the foothills of the Trans-lli Alatau Mountains. This opening is just one example of the brand’s strong growth in the region – DoubleTree continues to expand across the Asia Pacific, with nearly half its hotels in the future pipeline located in the region. DoubleTree is also the second-fastest hotel brand to grow in value in 2019, according to the Brand Finance Hotels 50 Ranking. Up 79 percent to $2.1 billion, the brand jumped from 17th to seventh over the past year, reshaping the ranking’s top 10 standing.

Furthermore, DoubleTree continues to innovate the hospitality industry – on Earth and soon in space. Recently, DoubleTree announced that later this year it will bring its signature, warm welcome to new heights when its famous chocolate chip cookie becomes the first food ever baked in space aboard the International Space Station.

Mexico
DoubleTree by Hilton Toluca – Opened May 2019

Expanding the brand’s presence in Mexico, this newly built hotel is now one of the largest event spaces in the business district of Toluca. In addition to providing more than 17,000 square feet of meetings and events space, the property’s on-site dining, La Reforma Uno and Pizza & Pasta Corner, provide business travelers with a delicious spot to grab a bite to eat between meetings or host a group dinner after a convention. Situated near many industrial plants for pharmaceutical and automotive companies, DoubleTree by Hilton Toluca provides travelers with convenient access to Toluca International Airport just six miles away.

Kazakhstan
DoubleTree by Hilton Almaty – Opened June 2019

Opening at the foot of the Trans-lli Alatau Mountains and just a five-minute walk to Baikonur Metro Station and Almaty Central Stadium, DoubleTree by Hilton Almaty joined the brand’s portfolio as the first in Kazakhstan. Situated in the country’s trading and cultural hub, both business and leisure travelers will find a comfortable haven at this newly opened 112-room property in the woodlands on Almaty, complete with a wellness spa, sauna, Turkish hammam and 24-hour fitness center.

Turkey
DoubleTree by Hilton Afyonkarahisar – Opened June 2019

Located in Turkey’s western city of Afyonkarahisar, DoubleTree by Hilton Afyonkarahisar provides comfortable accommodations to travelers looking to relax in the region’s warm thermal springs. The modernly designed property is situated on the beautiful Akarcay River, best enjoyed from the Sky 12 Bar, where guests and locals gather to take in impressive views. The property’s on-site restaurant, Larissa, serves local Turkish favorites to enjoy after a long day of exploring nearby scenic parks and historic sites.

DoubleTree by Hilton Istanbul Esentepe – Opened June 2019

Located in the heart of one of Istanbul’s business districts, DoubleTree by Hilton Istanbul Esentepe gives travelers easy access to nearby shopping centers, including Cevahir Shopping Mall and Grand Bazaar, as well as close proximity to trendy restaurants and entertainment venues. Its on-property restaurant, Zeytinyali, serves international and local delicacies that will leave travelers satisfied after sightseeing around Istanbul.

United States
DoubleTree by Hilton Appleton – Opened April 2019

Expanding Hilton’s presence in northern Wisconsin, DoubleTree by Hilton Appleton is the latest of the portfolio to bring full-service accommodations to the area. With a 24-hour fitness center, an on-property restaurant – The Watermark – a heated indoor swimming pool, close proximity to nearby venues and attractions and 5,600 square feet of flexible meetings and events space, DoubleTree by Hilton Appleton is the ideal stay for both leisure and business travelers to the greater Appleton area.

DoubleTree by Hilton Huntington – Opened May 2019

The brand’s first property in the state of West Virginia, DoubleTree by Hilton Huntington brings a wide variety of food and beverage options to the area, including the indulgent Italian favorite Doppio Albero, Baker Joes Coffee Shop and Bootleggers Pub. The property offers 20,000 square feet of optimal meetings and events space for any wedding, convention or local business event right in the heart of the historic and scenic area of Huntington.

DoubleTree by Hilton Newark Penn Station – Opened June 2019

Following an arrival to Penn Station, Port Newark or Newark Liberty International Airport, guests will receive the brand’s famous warm chocolate chip cookie welcome at the recently opened DoubleTree by Hilton Newark Penn Station, right in the heart of the city. Known as a major U.S. transit hub, the property offers Newark and New York City travelers a comfortable full-service experience with an on-site restaurant, 24-hour business and fitness centers and close proximity to nearby venues.

The Mile at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Chicago – Magnificent Mile – Renovation Completed June 2019

Seen as one of Chicago’s iconic properties, this hotel recently debuted The Mile, a collection of studio and one-bedroom luxurious suites located on the hotel’s highest floors that provide an unmatched view of The Windy City to its guests.
