Zabka Announces The Opening Of Its 6000th Store And Completion Of Modernization In All Outletspol

November 08, 2019 // Franchising.com // Three years have passed since the launch of the first Zabka store in the new format. It is one of the largest remodelings on a European scale, which is planned to be completed in the second half of 2020. Today the Zabka chain is an innovative and customer-oriented format of stores, which managed to attract 30 percent more new customers to its outlets. By the end of the year, the network will have 6000 stores.

Three years ago Zabka announced the concept of a new store format, meeting the expectations of present-day consumers and implementing the vision of a modern convenience store. Since then it has been consistently adapting the existing network to the new standards. Zabka is changing its visual identity, store equipment, product range, product layout, additional services package, franchise system, and communication in outlets. The new smiling logo is present in 4908 out of 5876 stores. The stores which previously operated under the Freshmarket brand will now be transformed into the new Zabka format. As a result the entire network will operate under one common logo.

Innovation is a key element in the company’s development: as much as 10 percent of the entire organization is involved in the digitization process. The network invests in new customer communication channels and building its own brands related to consumer missions.

  • Using tools such as artificial intelligence, we analyze the needs and preferences of our customers. We know that they are increasingly more busy. They are short on time and prefer to spend it on pleasures or other responsibilities rather than on standing in lines. The new Zabka store format is a response to their needs. While on their way, they can buy take-out coffee, breakfast sandwiches, ready-made dishes for dinner, pick up a package, or withdraw cash. Zabka is a store that provides ready-made solutions here and now - adds Anna Grabowska, Vice President of the Board and Chief Commercial Officer at Zabka Polska.

Zabka, as a store largely for impulse purchases, is changing its approach to the product range, focusing on the shopping missions of customer and moving away from the traditional definition of product categories. As part of shopping missions, such as breakfast, snack, lunch, or dinner, it introduces a number of new products exclusive to Zabka. This year, among others, new Tomcio Paluch sandwiches, liquid Foodini snacks, or HAPS healthy snacks appeared on its shelves. Customers looking for an idea for lunch or dinner can choose between salads and hummuses (Dobra Karma) or ready meals (Szamamm). The offer of beverages, including unpasteurized drinks (Wycisk), is also constantly being developed.
