Rush Bowls Signs Deal for First North Florida Locations

Meal-in-a-bowl concept continues Florida expansion by signing deal for three stores in greater Jacksonville area.

January 09, 2020 // Franchising.com // BOULDER, Colo. - Rush Bowls - a fast-casual restaurant serving all-natural, blended fruit and vegetable bowls topped with organic granola and honey - recently signed a deal to open more Florida locations. This comes on the heels of the brand opening their first Florida store in West Palm Beach in mid-November.

Though addresses have yet to be announced, local owners Sean and Michelle Byers are hoping to place locations in Gainesville, St. Augustine, and Jacksonville Beach. The husband-and-wife duo is planning on opening the first store in Gainesville in May of 2020.

Prior to becoming a Rush Bowls franchisee, Sean worked for Republic Service for 11 years as a manufacturing and environmental services executive. During that time, he was responsible for managing projects and for coordinating the logistics of nonhazardous waste removal services. Michelle has owned the Chocolate Shoe (a women's clothing boutique store) for the past ten years. Both plan on using their prior management experience to make their Rush Bowls locations a great success.

Sean’s interest in Rush Bowls stems from a doctor’s visit. During a checkup, it was suggested that Sean make some changes to his lifestyle and focus on eating healthier. Sean knew Rush Bowls was a great business opportunity and a great way to share healthier meal options with his children and other people in the community.

“After looking into the concept, I fell in love with Rush Bowls and their mission,” Sean said. “I figured that this would be a great way to encourage other people in the community, especially with the local colleges in the area, to eat healthier. I can’t wait to share Rush Bowls’ healthy meals-in-a-bowl with the greater Jacksonville area.”

Founded in 2004, Rush Bowls offers meals crafted from all-natural fruit, topped with organic granola and honey, and blended with protein, vitamins and other nutritious ingredients that taste delicious while promoting a healthy lifestyle. Customers can choose from over 40 signature bowls or all-natural smoothies made with fruit and vegetable bases, including acai, kale and avocado.

“Rush Bowls was created initially to provide healthy meal options for college students. Our popularity quickly grew beyond the campus into surrounding communities, where residents were also seeking innovative, nutritious alternatives,” said founder and CEO Andrew Pudalov. “Our wholesome, all-natural offerings taste so delicious, you may forget it’s also good for you. We are excited about our explosive growth and look forward to further expanding Rush Bowls as a national player in the health food market.”

Over the past 15 years, Rush Bowls has cultivated a loyal following with its menu specializing in healthy, all-natural, fruit-blended meals-in-a-bowl for those on the go. Bowls are also available in vegan, gluten-free, soy-free and dairy free options, and anything can be custom-made to cater to all dietary needs.

“We are excited to see the Byers continue our expansion throughout Florida,” stated Pudalov. “We are incredibly proud of Rush Bowls’ growth and we are excited to build upon our presence in the Florida marketplace.”

The Jacksonville expansion comes at a time when Rush Bowls continues to rapidly expand its national footprint. Today, there are 25 restaurants open and operating in 15 states, with more than 120 additional locations in various stages of development across 20 states.
