Duck Donuts® Launches Happiness for Hometown Heroes Campaign

Duck Donuts Sets Goal to Donate 25,000 Donuts

Customers Can Support Local Frontline Workers by Donating a Donut

May 15, 2020 // Franchising.com // MECHANICSBURG, PA - Duck Donuts, known for serving Warm, Delicious and Made to Order!® donuts, is inviting its guests to join its mission of donating 25,000 donuts to hometown heroes across the communities it serves. Now through May 20, customers can #SprinkleHappiness to their local heroes by donating a donut through its online ordering platform or Duck Donuts Rewards app. Customers will be prompted at checkout, or for those who wish to only purchase a donut to donate can do so under the “Donations” tab.

To demonstrate the commitment of being in this together, stores will match donut donations received, and will deliver the donuts at the end of the week to frontline workers or an essential business of their choice. To see donations in actions, fans are encouraged to follow their local Duck Donuts’ Facebook page.

“From safely serving their guests to finding new ways to creatively deliver the Duck Donuts experience and donating donuts to those most deserving, our franchise families have been focused on supporting their local communities, or as we like to call it “Sprinkling Happiness,” during this time,” said Russ DiGilio, CEO and founder of Duck Donuts. “Our Happiness for Hometown Heroes campaign was designed to come together not only as a franchise organization, but with our customers as we work towards sprinkling happiness, delivering smiles and expressing our gratitude to the frontline heroes who continue to inspire us.”

Duck Donuts thanks the generosity of its sponsors, Dawn, Lyons Magnus, McCormick Company and Mondelez International, for their support and contribution to the Happiness for Hometown Heroes campaign.

During this time, the locally owned and operated Duck Donuts franchise locations are committed to complying with federal, state and local restaurant mandates in an effort to safely serve guests. Many stores offer the convenience of ordering ahead for quick in-store or curbside pickup, online or through Duck Donuts Rewards app, and the option for delivery through third-party services. Customers can stay up-to-date on store changes and closures through the Company’s website and the local store Facebook pages.

About Duck Donuts

Duck Donuts opened its first locations in 2007 in the beach resort towns of Duck and Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. His intention? To solve a family vacation problem: “Our family wanted a place to buy warm, delicious, made-to-order donuts, and when we couldn’t find one, we decided to start our own.”

By 2011, Duck Donuts had expanded to four Outer Banks locations and the donut business was so successful that DiGilio was continuously approached about franchise opportunities by fans who begged for a Duck Donuts in their community. The first franchise opened in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 2013, and there are now 91 open franchise locations and more than 145 additional contracts in 26 states and four countries.
