Costa Coffee signs up to ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme

July 22, 2020 // Franchising.com // The nation’s favourite coffee shop*, Costa Coffee, has today announced that it has signed up to the Government’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ Scheme - enabling coffee lovers to pick up their favourite food or drink from participating stores from as little as 32p.

From 3rd-31st August 2020, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, hundreds of participating Costa Coffee stores will be applying the 50% discount on all food and drink items up to a total value of £10 per person when they choose to eat in store. This discount will be applied in addition to the VAT reduction across all food and drink that was announced by the coffee chain last week**. Merchandise and gift vouchers will be exempt from the offer.

Those looking to treat the family, meet a friend or enjoy their favourite coffee will find great savings this August at Costa Coffee:

  • Picking up your favourite morning coffee?

A small Filter coffee in a reusable cup for - Was £1, with VAT reduction and 50% off now just 32p (if a reusable cup is used) or choose a handcrafted Flat White - Was £2.70, with VAT reduction and 50% off now just £1.06 (if a reusable cup is used)

  • Meeting a friend for that long overdue socially distanced catch up?

Two medium Lattes, with a Blueberry Muffin and a slice of Lemon Drizzle Cake is the perfect treat to enjoy - Was £9.70 with VAT reduction and 50% off now just £4.25

  • Taking out a family of four?

Costa Coffee has recommended its franchise partners also participate in the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ Scheme, however, anyone looking to enjoy the saving should check prices in store first.

Anyone looking for additional savings at Costa Coffee can look to receive £3 worth of points if they download and register on the Costa Coffee Club mobile app. The offer is available to both current Costa Coffee Club members and newly registered users. Both will receive 300 extra points, the equivalent of £3, which they can spend on a drink of their choice in any participating Costa Coffee store across the UK. The free coffee offer is open to anyone 16+ years from Monday 6th July 2020 – Friday 31st July with points valid for 12 months from activation.

**VAT REDUCTION - Costa Coffee will pass on full 15% VAT reduction to customers across all food and drink in owned stores from Wednesday 15th July 2020. Over 1,500 Costa Coffee stores and 9,000+ plus Costa Express machines will reduce VAT, passing on the saving directly to customers. Costa Coffee has recommended its franchise partners also pass on the saving, however, customers should check prices in store, as prices may vary in those stores operated by a franchise partner.
