Gold’s Gym Wins Distinguished Franchise Update Media 2020 Innovation Award
Global franchisor is recognized for its creative efforts to pivot fitness services in response to pandemic
August 20, 2020 // Franchising.com // DALLAS - Gold’s Gym, the world’s trusted fitness authority, was recently honored with Franchise Update Media’s 2020 award for “Most Innovative Use of Customer-Facing Digital Tools.” Gold’s Gym received this award in recognition of its response to the temporary new normal of COVID-19 with the launch of “Gold’s Gym Anywhere,” a digital platform offering various virtual fitness options for at-home exercise.
“Gold’s Gym Anywhere” consists of two key digital initiatives designed to help people maintain their fitness routines from the safety of their homes in light of mandated gym closures: premium access to digital personal training app GOLD’S AMP™ (which was made free to the U.S. and Canada through May 31) along with a free global, on-demand video workout platform featuring workouts from both celebrities and certified Gold’s Gym personal trainers from around the world. In addition to making these virtual workout options available to both members and non-members alike, the brand also welcomed video workout submissions from franchise gyms around the world to be part of the on-demand workout database, which is still available for free to the public.

Since the free Gold’s Gym on-demand video platform launched March 18, there have been over 350,000 video plays, and the portal now features more than 230 video workouts from Gold’s Gym experts around the world. The positive reception of “Gold’s Gym Anywhere” from consumers played a major role in earning Gold’s Gym its 2020 Franchise Innovation Award.
For this year’s Franchise Update Media Innovation Awards, a jury of seven judges evaluated the innovation, objectives and results of more than 130 entrants. Franchise innovators, game-changers and disruptors competed in four categories: Marketing & Branding, Products & Services, Operations and Human Resources. Gold's Gym was among just 18 winners chosen from across the four categories.
