Scenthound Opens Wellness Based Grooming “Scenter” in Apex

Membership-based grooming concept to keep local dogs healthy and clean

December 28, 2020 // Franchising.com // RALEIGH - Scenthound, the world’s only wellness-based dog groomer, is on a mission to keep dogs healthy and clean nationwide and is opening its first North Carolina location in Apex on January 2. This location is the first of at least three locations opening up in the Cary and Apex areas. The brand offers pet parents simple membership options to ensure that their dog is getting the routine care it needs.

Located at 1489 Kelly Road, the new location will be opened by local franchisees Raj Kadumpalli, Kavitha Kadumpalli, Amitha Ravulapati, and Ram Ravulapati. The group is excited to bring the out-of-state concept to North Carolina for the first time to keep the dogs in their community healthy.

“We are so excited to bring this innovative concept to our community because it’s unlike anything out there,” said Raj. “One of the most unique aspects is that we are membership-based. We want what’s best for your dog - which is grooming on a routine basis. On our ‘e-scent-tials’ plan, you can bring in your dog once a month and get them the care they need to stay healthy and clean. On our unlimited plan, you can bring in your dog every single day if you’d like, and it’s still affordable.”

Scenthound takes a wellness-based approach that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for dogs. Embedded in the name, Scenthound focuses on the five core areas of maintenance: Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails, and Teeth. Their Scent Techs are fully trained to give each dog the care it requires -- regardless of the breed -- and the membership program allows for dog parents to have the peace of mind that their dog is cared for on a routine basis. Pet parents can select a membership plan most appropriate for their dog and add additional services on an as-needed basis.

“We are proud to introduce this concept to our dog-friendly community and show people in our area the importance of routine care,” said Amitha. “As a physician, I know how important it is for humans to get their check-ups and take care of themselves - the same applies to dogs, who are also a part of the family.”

Scenthound was founded in 2015 after CEO Tim Vogel spent more than 10 years running both a mobile grooming business and local grooming shops, seeing first-hand the shortcomings within the booming pet industry and the lack of education surrounding dog grooming. Vogel began a mission to give dogs and their owners a fast, easy, and affordable solution that not only keeps them clean and looking great but maintains their overall health and wellness.

“There is a lack of education among dog parents that we’re on a mission to change,” said CEO Tim Vogel. “Many pet parents do not realize that just because your dog may not need a haircut, it doesn’t mean they don’t need routine care to stay healthy. We started Scenthound as a way to offer grooming services that cater to all breeds. As we expand nationally, we hope to educate as many people as possible and make sure their dogs get the care they need.”
