Celebrity's Soul Food® Expands Empire, Makes Cuisine More Accessible Across The Country

January 08, 2021 // Franchising.com // OCALA, FL - Soul Food has its origins in the Deep South and encompasses food that was traditionally prepared and eaten by African Americans. Unlike Southern cooking, soul food has spread to communities outside of the Southern United States. Dishes feature regional ingredients, including meats such as wild game and vegetables that are sourced through local farming. Once considered special occasion food, soul food is now more accessible thanks to restaurants like Celebrity's Soul Food®, a quality casual brand that is expanding its presence in North America and putting their own spin on the cuisine.

Founded by husband-and-wife duo, Dr. Fredrick and Taja Jacobs, Celebrity's Soul Food had its start in Beverly Hills, CA. The Jacobs and their team specialized in executive catering for notable TV, film, and music celebrities and are now expanding their empire to include a restaurant franchise that features their soul food specialties. Their rollout goal is 200 units over the course of the next few years.

"Soul food is about spotlighting local flavors and spices. Growing up, I was blessed to have the influences of my mother and grandmother when it came to cooking. I was also able to travel the world and experience firsthand how great chefs used spices," said Dr. Fredrick Jacobs, CEO and Founder of Celebrity's Soul Food. "I've taken a life-time of learning and turned it to my passion, which is now Celebrity's Soul Food."

Through their innovative approach to soul food, Celebrity's Soul Food can put their own twist to the cuisine. Their dishes feature quality ingredients and are prepared from scratch. True to the essence of soul food, the Celebrity's Soul Food menu spotlights local flavors and specialties. Dishes vary from classic favorites such as Fried Chicken, Shrimp & Grits, Cornmeal-Dusted Catfish, and Braised Oxtails to creative twists such as Gold-Dusted Chicken Wings, Jerked Jackfruit Pineapple Bowls, Barbeque Glazed Alligator Ribs, and Red Velvet Chicken & Waffles.

"We pride ourselves on not just serving soul food, but food that is good for the soul. We incredibly proud to be able to share this cuisine with even more people around the country with the first national soul food chain," said Taja Jacobs, Chief Sustainability Officer.
