Scenthound to Open 35 New Scenters in 2021 After a Momentous 2020

The world’s only wellness-based dog grooming franchise sees impressive growth throughout the pandemic

January 08, 2021 // Franchising.com // JUPITER, FL - 2020 has been a difficult year for businesses across the country, but dog wellness franchise Scenthound is going into the new year with plans to expand like never before. On a mission to revolutionize the pet industry, the wellness-based groomer has not only been able to remain resilient on-site in its Scenters - all of which have remained open throughout 2020 - but also in its franchising efforts. The emerging franchise is announcing plans to sign franchise agreements for over 100 new units in 2021.

Scenthound started the year with four Scenters open in its home market of Palm Beach County, and is now going into 2021 with seven locations open and another 29 in development across the country. The franchise is expecting to open 35 Scenters in 2021, eight of which are set to open in the first quarter.

“With health at the forefront of everyone’s minds this year, our members and new franchisees understand that these values apply to dogs, too,” said CEO Tim Vogel. “We have done so well in 2020 because grooming is something that every dog needs, and not even a pandemic can stop that. Our wellness-centered approach builds loyal customers who can feel the difference in their happier, healthier dogs.”

The brand attributes this success to its recession-proof model that has remained strong, even during turbulent times. Scenthound takes a wellness-based approach that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for dogs. Embedded in the name, Scenthound focuses on the five core areas of maintenance: Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails, and Teeth. By providing preventive care services that are critical to a dog’s overall health and wellness, the franchise has been able to stay open throughout the pandemic and keep customers coming back through its membership plans.

The concept was founded in 2015 after CEO Tim Vogel spent more than 10 years running both a mobile grooming business and local grooming shops, seeing first-hand the shortcomings within the booming pet industry and the lack of education surrounding dog grooming. Vogel began a mission to give dogs and their owners a fast, easy, and affordable solution that not only keeps them clean and looking great but maintains their overall health and wellness.

“There are 90 million dogs in the United States, but the grooming market has not evolved to meet all of the needs of the canine population,” added Vogel. “Scenthound is the solution to the problems the industry is facing. With each new Scenter that opens, we are able to continue to remove barriers so that people can love and connect with their dogs every day.”
