Kumon Parent Draws Inspiration from Her Children to Open Learning Center

Kumon of Houston – Vintage Park Aims to Instill a Love for Learning in Area Students

January 19, 2021 // Franchising.com // HOUSTON, Texas - Like many parents, Vicky Bhakta has always been one to focus greatly on her children’s education. That’s one of the reasons why she enrolled them in the Kumon Math and Reading Program after receiving multiple recommendations from friends. The academic growth and independence she saw her kids develop from Kumon had Bhakta wondering how she could spread that positive impact further in her community. Now, she embarks on that new journey as the owner and Instructor of Kumon of Houston - Vintage Park.

“Simply knowing that I would have the ability to help more children benefit from the Kuon Method is what inspired me to open this center,” said Vicky Bhakta, owner and Instructor of Kumon of Houston – Vintage Park. “The lifelong problem solving and independent thinking skills that I have seen my own children develop from the program is what makes me so excited to be a part of that same journey for countless area students.”

Bhakta’s previous career experience in both the hospitality and insurance industries helped to equip her with advanced customer service skills. Combined with her familiarity with the program in her own family, she was a great candidate to become a Kumon Franchisee.

Kumon is a supplemental education program that aims to unlock students’ full potential by increasing academic independence, confidence, and study skills. Through daily worksheet study, students enrolled in Kumon often end up mastering material far beyond grade level.

“The best thing about Kumon is the fact that it isn’t based on a child’s age or grade, but rather their ability,” said Bhakta. “That’s the key, and I’m excited to show that to countless families in my community.”
