Sasquatch Strength Plans to Triple its Presence in 2021 as Franchise Expands in North America

Seattle-based fitness concept prepares for aggressive growth in the new year

January 19, 2021 // Franchising.com // SEATTLE - At a time when many fitness brands are halting expansion and even shutting down gyms across the country, Sasquatch Strength is preparing for an explosive 2021, despite the pandemic. The education-based fitness concept that focuses on small classes and creating a community for all is planning to ink deals for 14 new locations in 2021.

This announcement may come as a surprise to those unfamiliar with Sasquatch’s success throughout 2020, but the brand has remained resilient throughout gym closures, retaining over 95% of its members. Through its “Sasquatch @Home” initiative, members have been able to attend any of the franchise’s 50+ classes offered every week. Participants can join in live to interact with their coaches, or watch archived classes at any time of the day. The franchise is also loaning out equipment - from dumbbells to rowing machines - so that members can still get their full workout in without any limitations.

“When taking a look at the fitness industry as a whole, a lot of other brands felt like they had to scale back as gyms were shut down,” said CEO Isaac Vaisberg. “We saw this as a challenge. We were not willing to sacrifice our members’ fitness journeys simply because we couldn’t meet in-person. We made a commitment to our community that all of our staff would remain employed and all of our members could still receive the personalized workouts they signed up for.”

In addition to its four locations in the Seattle metro area, the franchise already has deals to open at least two new gyms in Kirkland, WA, and Ocoee, FL in 2021. While the franchise’s main target markets remain in the Pacific Northwest and Florida, Sasquatch Strength has also seen high demand in Arizona, Texas, and even various parts of Canada. Vaisberg notes that the franchise is excited at the possibility of exploring growth in new areas.

“I am confident that gyms will receive a massive influx of new customers this year,” added Vaisberg. “The highly restricted supply of fitness-related services following layoffs and closures due to the pandemic, coupled with the increased demand by people who have been stuck at home for months - slowly becoming aware of how their health has been adversely affected - points to an explosive 2021 for the fitness sector. As a brand that focuses on personalized workouts and building a community, we are ready to be at the forefront of it all.”

Sasquatch Strength is planning to partner with single and multi-unit candidates to sign deals for the planned 14 units, in addition to partnering with Area Representatives who take a stake in the growth and franchise expansion in their own, specific regions. In the next three to five years, Sasquatch Strength has a goal to sell 100 units in markets across North America.

Sasquatch’s “purpose-based” programming focuses on educating and empowering members for life. As a truly functional program, the difficulty level of the daily workouts is designed to be increased or decreased, depending upon the individual. This makes them doable by anyone and creates a community of support and accountability where everyone feels welcome and safe. Daily workouts can include: core conditioning, rowing, sprinting, gymnastics, lifting, and more. All workouts are designed to improve overall flexibility, strength, speed, endurance, and agility.
