American Family Care Ranks in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 List

Urgent Care Franchise Rises to #82 on Prestigious Ranking

February 02, 2021 // Franchising.com // BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For the eighth time, American Family Care (AFC) ranks among the best in Entrepreneur magazine’s Franchise 500®.

AFC is listed at 82 - the highest ranking on the prestigious list for the health care brand to date and the first time breaking the top 100. The company’s growth, financial strength, stability and brand power are used by Entrepreneur magazine to determine placement.

“We are pleased that the strength and resiliency of the American Family Care franchise opportunity are reflected by its position as the highest-ranked urgent care opportunity in the Franchise 500,” said D. Bruce Irwin, M.D., Founder and CEO of AFC.

American Family Care was quick to adapt to changing circumstances in 2020, which led to their success during a challenging year. “Innovation and adaptability have always been at the heart of American Family Care, adds Dr. Irwin. “As COVID-19 began to impact the nation, we immediately started brainstorming ways to adapt to offer solutions for our patients and our franchise owners.”

To ease patient fears about in-person doctor visits, AFC moved quickly to launch the AFC/Telecare portal, which allows medical providers in the American Family network of nationwide healthcare clinics to provide virtual visits to patients, including assessment/screening of COVID-19 symptoms or any other healthcare problems, such as acute illnesses and trauma, help managing chronic illness and prescription medication as needed all from the safety of their home.

AFC also became the first health care provider in the country to provide the fastest-available molecular point-of-care test for the detection of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus. The national recognition drove even more patients to AFC clinics.

In Entrepreneur’s continuing effort to best understand and evaluate the ever-changing franchise marketplace, the company’s 42-year-old ranking formula continues to evolve as well. The key factors that go into the evaluation include costs and fees, size and growth, support, brand strength and financial strength and stability. Each franchise is given a cumulative score based on an analysis of more than 150 data points, and the 500 franchises with the highest cumulative scores become the Franchise 500 in ranking order.
