Penn Station East Coast Subs Named To Training Magazine Training Top 100 List For 5th Consecutive Year

Company recognized as No. 71 on list

March 10, 2021 // Franchising.com // MILFORD, OHIO - Penn Station East Coast Subs, the fast casual franchise known for its grilled, made-to-order sub sandwiches, hand-squeezed lemonade and fresh-cut fries, has been named a 2021 Training Top 100 company by Training magazine.

This is the fifth year in a row that Penn Station has made the list. The company moved up to its highest spot on the list yet at No. 71.

“Our strength in training became a huge advantage for us when the challenges of COVID-19 hit the restaurant industry last year,” said Lance Vaught, vice president of operations for Penn Station. “We were able to communicate well, train new employees, help our franchisees keep their restaurants in compliance with local regulations and roll out third party delivery in a smooth manner thanks to our existing training program. It’s an honor to see our work recognized among companies like Two Men and a Truck, Valvoline Instant Oil Change and Huntington Learning Center.”

The annual Training Top 100 list ranks companies by excellence in employer-sponsored training and development programs. It is based on total training budget; percentage of payroll; number of training hours per employee program; goals, evaluation, measurement and workplace surveys; hours of training per employee annually; and detailed formal programs.

Penn Station has launched several new training initiatives in the last few years, including My Penn Path, a training and career path program designed to help employees move from entry-level crew member to crew leader, assistant manager and even general manager. Penn Station has also incorporated training videos, quizzes and modules into its proprietary POS system.
