Juice It Up! Tramples Sales Records with Exceptional First Half Of 2021
Leading Smoothie, Açai Bowl & Raw Juice Chain Continues Hot Streak with SSS Up Nearly 50%
June 30, 2021 // Franchising.com // NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Juice It Up!, handcrafted smoothie, açai bowl and raw juice chains, continues to post extraordinary gains in same store sales growth. For the two quarters ended in June 2021, Juice It Up! announced that same store sales increased an incredible 48.1% over 2020’s first half. Equally impressive, this sales performance was 35% higher than the comparable pre-COVID period of 2019. The brand’s dramatic leap in same store sales over the past two years have translated into rapidly escalating increases in average annual sales for its franchise owners. The chain’s top 25% and 50% of franchise locations are now averaging $785,000 and $637,000 in annual sales, respectively, with those figures expected to grow as the year progresses. According to the brand’s owners and leadership team, the extraordinary sales achieved in 2021 are largely due to strong growth in digital sales and third-party delivery, a 50% increase in loyalty members, and a continued emphasis on menu innovation focused on equal parts flavor and functionality.

Food science and menu innovation remains at the forefront to deliver exciting flavor profiles and functional options to Juice It Up! guests. A longstanding pioneer in introducing exotic and unique superfruits to California consumers, including being one of the first quick service restaurants to add Sambazon Açai to its menu, Juice It Up! debuted two new LTO smoothies in April that extended its already extensive line of nutritionally dense acai offerings. The antioxidant-rich Chocolate Dipped Açai and Açai Berry smoothies, which accounted for 16% of Q2 specialty smoothie sales, underscore the brand’s ongoing efforts to offer the most functionally delicious products on the market. On the development front, Juice It Up! opened a second Santa Ana, Calif., location and signed new franchise agreements in both Central and Southern California as well as Arizona.

All three were recognized amongst the nation’s top 25 fast casual executives. In addition, Fast Casual named Juice It Up! to its 2021 Top 100 Movers & Shakers list, ranking 26th overall – a 47-spot jump from its 2020 position. Juice It Up! was one of only two smoothie concepts in the top 30 franchise brands on the list.
