A Home Care Company Has Supplied Their Team With Personal Alarms As The Nights Draw In

December 07, 2021 // Franchising.com // UNITED KINGDOM - Good Oaks Home Care in Wimbledon and Kingston are offering personal alarms to all their team in a bid to help carers feel safer as they work through the winter. Both male and female Good Oaks carers have been able to pick up a free alarm from the Wimbledon office if they would like one, since the clocks changed.

All alarms come with a torch and a pull cord, should the person feel threatened, they can pull the cord and the alarm emits a very loud noise, meant to startle the attacker and alert people to the situation. It also gives the person time to get away.

The team said they wanted everyone to feel extra safe during the dark winter months. Director Arpan Patel said: “We wanted to do everything we can to help our carers feel safe, especially during the winter, when so many of us commute in the dark. No one should feel worried on their way to or from work, but it can be a real concern in the dark, so we wanted to do what we could to help.”

Good Oaks Home Care provides live-in and visiting care across the area, to help people lead independent and happy lives while staying in their own home for as long as possible. They offer industry-leading rates of pay and clear career progression for those carers who would like it. In fact, the team have just announced additional pay rises for all carers this month. Band A carers will now get an additional £1 per hour, while Band B and C carers will get an additional 75 pence per hour.

Mr Patel added: “We are so proud to work with an incredibly caring team. We believe that carers should be rewarded for the amazing job they do to help the community. We are delighted to say that this month we have given an additional pay rise on top of our already industry-leading rates of pay.”
