Another Broken Egg Cafe to Elevate Brunch Experience Across More of America

Nation’s Leading Brunch Restaurant Franchise Signs Three New Multi-Unit Agreements to Expand Concept in Texas, Maryland and Virginia

March 28, 2022 // Franchising.com // ORLANDO - America is enamored with brunch, and Another Broken Egg Cafe is filling the country’s clamoring for it coast to coast. The ‘NextGen Casual’* brand redefining the brunch category announced today that it has recently signed three new development agreements totaling 12 new locations planned for development.

Included in the impressive collection of forthcoming restaurants, the brand will enter the Maryland market for the first time, expand into Texas’ El Paso region and quadruple its footprint in Virginia. Both new and existing franchisees have inked the fresh development deals with the brand.

“We’re excited to elevate the brunch experience nationwide, especially with the quality of franchise owners expanding our brand,” said Jeff Sturgis, Chief Development Officer for Another Broken Egg Cafe. “They are all experienced multi-unit operators who have a proven track record of developing and operating successful restaurants. Each of the groups who we have recently signed deals with fit perfectly with the expectations we have for ownership in the Another Broken Egg franchise system.”

Pioneering Another Broken Egg into Maryland are Karl and Toni Young. The married couple are restaurant industry veterans with a wealth of experience in operations and human resources. Together, the duo were executives within a Maryland-based McDonald’s franchisee group for more than 15 years. Given their complementary skill sets honed as restaurant industry leaders, the Youngs are well prepared to expand Another Broken Egg into Maryland. Their agreement is to open five locations, the first of which is planned for Fulton, Maryland, situated along the I-95 Corridor between Baltimore and Washington D.C. It is scheduled to open this fall.

Also new to the Another Broken Egg franchise family, Luis Romero. Luis has signed a three-unit agreement to open locations throughout the El Paso, Texas area. He too brings a proven history of successful restaurant operations to his investment in Another Broken Egg, with experience owning and operating multiple full-service restaurants in Mexico. He has already signed his first lease to open in El Paso early in 2023.

Less than nine months after opening the brand’s first Virginia location in mid-2021 along the Virginia Peninsula in historic Williamsburg, franchisee Demetrios Florakis has signed a multi-unit agreement to expand into Northern Virginia with Another Broken Egg Cafe, opening four additional locations in addition to his growth in Southeastern Virginia.

“Momentum is on our side, and all three of the groups expanding with us know that the opportunity is now,” said Paul Macaluso, President and CEO of Another Broken Egg Cafe. “Our performance during the past two years has opened eyes, and many of the nation’s most sought after restaurant franchise groups are recognizing why Another Broken Egg has a place in their portfolios.”

This energy behind Another Broken Eggs comes as the brand has recently opened four new restaurants in Gilbert, Arizona; Columbus and Sandusky, Ohio; as well as Port Orange, Florida. The Gilbert restaurant marked the brand’s entry into Arizona. While the Columbus and Sandusky locations brought the total number of cafes in Ohio to seven.

In addition to the four recent openings and signed agreements, Another Broken Egg Cafe, which is the largest, actively franchising brand in the brunch-sector, welcomed 10 new cafes to its system in 2021. This year, up to 18 locations in total throughout the United States are planned to open. The recent growth reflects Another Broken Egg’s most updated prototype, which features a warm, yet lively and modernized environment where food and beverages, including a full bar and specialty mimosas and bloody marys, come together to create a highly attractive environment. Plus, the new cafes offer carry-out and delivery options, as well as small and large group catering. To-go order staging and pick-up areas for focused handling of all online orders support these incremental revenue opportunities and guest channels.

With a menu that is loaded with fresh ingredients, creative recipes and seasonal features — from traditional Southern favorites like Shrimp ‘N Grits or Crab Cakes & Fried Green Tomatoes, to sweet temptations like Bourbon Street Pancakes or a Cinnamon Roll French Toast that’s to die for — Another Broken Egg creates an indulgent brunch experience for its guests. The cafes offer a warm, yet lively and modernized environment where food and beverages, including a full bar and specialty mimosas and bloody marys, come together to create a highly attractive environment.
