Local mom opens second Kolache Factory store and builds legacy for her children

The newest Kolache Factory will be welcomed to town by Missouri City Mayor Robin Elackatt and six council members for a ribbon-cutting on Friday, June 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM.

Building a Family Business!

When Bee Vines arrived in Texas from Singapore more than twenty years ago working for Exxon she could not have known she would one day own not one, but two bakery-café’s selling the wildly popular Czech treat - kolaches!

After staying at home for 10 years to raise her three boys, she needed to get back into the workforce and had trouble finding a good fit for the lifestyle she wanted to have with her children. In fact, she says it was her kids who inspired her to open her first Kolache Factory three years ago.

“My kids loved Kolache Factory and we would always go there for an after-school snack. I tried it and loved it too, and decided maybe I should open one myself, so I did!” exclaimed Vines. “This is the best of both worlds for me. I still get to spend time with my boys but also build a business of my own. We were able to be successful with our first store through the pandemic and we are just so excited to open the second store!”

Vines' oldest son already works at the store and the boys hope one day to run and own the stores themselves.

Kolache Factory Chief Operating Officer Dawn Nielsen says Vines is a great fit for the family business her parents founded 40 years ago this year.

“Bee not only embraces our family-friendly atmosphere, but she is also a savvy businesswoman who shows great hospitality to her customers and employees. She is a great ambassador for the brand, and we are thrilled she is opening a second store with the Kolache Factory,” said Nielsen.
