Shaquille O’Neal-Owned Big Chicken Breaks Ground in Houston

December 07, 2022 // Franchising.com // RICHMOND, Texas - Big Chicken breaks ground in the Greater Houston area with its second signed lease for the restaurant to open in Richmond.

Big Chicken’s second Texas location in Richmond is next. In August, Big Chicken announced the location of the first restaurant to open in Houston in Woodland Square. In mid-2023, Richmond residents can find Big Chicken located at 3415 FM 762, STE 100.

Behind the newest location is a trio of multi-unit operators with experience in the retail, restaurant and convenience spaces. The Maliks make up two parts of the team, well-known for their operation of Northwest Petroleum (NWP), a gas station and convenience company, as well as Skylark Construction, a retail and restaurant development and construction company. Jhaver is the CEO of one of Texas’ most prominent restaurant and retail real-estate ownership companies, Dew Real Estate Holdings L.L.C., as well as a multi-unit operator of Sonic restaurants. A partnership 30 years in the making, the Maliks and Jhaver joined forces to bring BIG flavor and BIG fun with Big Chicken.
