Director of Education and Training for Children’s Lighthouse To Serve on Cognia Texas Advisory Board

Education Non-profit Recognizes Dr. Kristi Smith for Commitment to Excellence in Education

January 13, 2023 // Franchising.com // DALLAS - Childrens Lighthouse Franchise Company announced today that its Director of Education and Training, Dr. Kristi Smith, has been appointed to serve on Cognia’s Texas Advisory Board.

“I’m incredibly grateful to be asked by the leaders of Cognia to share my expertise and to influence accreditation policy development for Texas schools,” said Smith. “Cognia has always provided valuable feedback and support to the Children’s Lighthouse Early Learning School franchise. Serving on this advisory board will allow me to help the children of Texas receive the highest quality of education.”

Cognia, a non-profit education community, offers accreditation and certification, assessment, and professional services. As part of the Cognia Texas Advisory Board, Smith will be responsible for providing tailored insight and guidance to Cognia leaders in Texas to strengthen their policies and procedures and enhance school and enhance teacher effectiveness and achievement.

Smith also played a key role in working with the Children’s Lighthouse organization, comprised of independently owned schools nationwide, to apply for and receive re-accreditation from Cognia for a second term. The accreditation is based on a set of three performance standards: Leadership Capacity, Learning Capacity and Resource Capacity, which together determine the capacity of an organization to provide quality educational practices and meet the rigorous demands of continued school improvement.

“Dr. Kristi’s guidance and dedication throughout the reaccreditation process were instrumental in our company’s success. It’s no surprise that the Cognia team recognized not only her skills and tenacity, but her passion for providing high-quality educational opportunities,” said Michael Brown, President of Childrens Lighthouse Franchise Company. “We’re enthused that her years of hard work have been acknowledged by such an organization, and we’re proud to call her part of the Children’s Lighthouse family.”
