Children’s Lighthouse of Oak Forest Was Spreading Love in February

Early-Learning School Celebrated the Month of Love Through Community Giveback

March 01, 2023 // Franchising.com // HOUSTON - Children’s Lighthouse of Oak Forest was spreading the love this month through several philanthropic efforts.

“We were extremely excited to Spread The Love this February by giving back to the community we call home,” said Alexis Legg, owner of Children’s Lighthouse Oak Forest. “It has always been a priority for us to teach our students about compassion and this project was a great way to show them the importance of caring for others as well as the responsibility we all hold to take care of our community.”

Throughout the month of February, the team at Oak Forest sold “Spread The Love” t-shirts to raise money in support of St. Jude. To help families celebrate their child(ren)’s teachers for Valentine’s Day, the early learning school also sold Candygrams throughout the month. Families purchased $5 candy bars and $3 chocolate roses to send to their loved ones, and all of the proceeds from the Candygram sales went to the school’s St. Jude Children’s Research Trike-A-Thon event on February 20.

The kindergarten students also participated in a jump rope challenge coordinated through Oak Forest Elementary School, in which children were taught “healthy heart habits” and worked to see how long they could jump rope together. The money raised from this event will benefit the American Heart Association. In the month of January, the school collected winter coats and blankets that were donated to the Star of Hope as a community project for their Schoolers Program, which is an after-school program for elementary-aged students.

“At Children’s Lighthouse, our main priority is to provide our students with a well-rounded education,” said Colin Berry, Director of Marketing. “Projects like this help to teach our students the importance of giveback and gratitude, and we can’t wait to see the results of the Oak Forest team’s hard work.”;
