Ziggi’s Coffee Announces Franchise Development Deal with San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians

Beloved Colorado-based coffee brand signs its first tribal agreement

March 13, 2023 // Franchising.com // DENVER, CO - Ziggi’s Coffee, the innovative coffee franchise reimagining how brands connect with their communities, has recently signed its first tribal agreement with the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians. Located at 31269 Valley Center Road, the development is the first of its kind for the coffee company and will be completed in collaboration with the San Pasqual Economic Development Corporation. The project has an anticipated opening date of fall 2023.

“We are so excited about the franchise agreement with the San Pasqual Tribe. This is the first tribal agreement for Ziggi’s, and we are hopeful it will be the first of many,” said Justin Livingston, VP of Franchise Development at Ziggi’s Coffee. “We cannot wait to bring our uniquely positive customer experience and diverse menu to the area and help support the economic development of the tribe.”

The San Pasqual Economic Development Corporation (SPEDC) was founded with the intention of pursuing economic development opportunities on behalf of the tribal government. The group works to develop and implement the tribe’s plan of sustainable economic self-sufficiency to help build a strong future for the people within the tribal community. The deal between Ziggi’s Coffee and the SPEDC is another step in reaching this goal for the community, and is an exciting move for Ziggi’s as the brand is eager to add to the tribe’s growing business portfolio.

“We didn’t want to partner with just any coffee company,” said President and CEO of SPEDC, Hellyaachwehay Quisquis.“We wanted to find a partner that fit in and believes in our values and mission to build on the next seven generations of our tribe. I was pleased to find that Ziggi’s Coffee and SPEDC share the same values of integrating family and community.”

“Working with the great folks at the SPEDC to navigate this type of deal has been awesome,” added Livingston. “By bringing Ziggi’s into the community, we hope to expand that model and work with many amazing and diverse tribes across the country to create a mutual benefit for all involved. Our goal is to bring the Ziggi’s community focused brand to these already tight-knit communities.”

Ziggi’s was founded in 2004 by husband-and-wife duo, Brandon and Camrin Knudsen. From the very start, the pair wanted to create a unique space where community members could gather and connect with one another. The Knudsen’s deemed coffee to be the perfect vessel to make this dream a reality. Since Ziggi’s began franchising in 2016, the brand has grown to 70 locations throughout 16 states, with no plans of slowing down anytime soon. Ziggi’s currently has over 140 locations in various stages of development, with 30 set to open in 2023, including the San Pasqual Tribe development.
