30 years of Spanish Franchise Asociacion, now rebranded "Asociación Española de la Franquicia"

July 11, 2023 // Franchising.com // The Spanish Franchise Association - Asociación Española de Franquiciadores (AEF) has changed its previous name of Spanish Association of Franchisers - Asociación Española de la Franquicia , and has modified its statutes, with a clear objective: to accommodate the other fundamental part of the franchise in the Association, such as franchisees, whose voice, along with that of the franchisors, can already be heard at the AEF.

Indeed, in Article 18 of the AEF statutes, the requirements for the entry of franchisees have been included: "To be a franchisee member of the Association, the candidate must be a franchisee of a franchisor that, in turn, is a member of the Association". In addition, it is added that "the franchisee member must at all times be aware of his obligations with respect to the franchisor and comply with the guiding principles of the Association."

Likewise, these statutes include the rights and duties of the associates, who, in the case of franchisees, "will have the right to attend the General Assembly, with voice but no vote, as well as to elect their representatives in the Steering Committee of the Association.

In the words of Luisa Masuet, President of the Spanish Franchise Association: "In the representativeness that we have as interlocutors of the franchise, it was necessary to integrate the voice of the franchisees, since they are an essential part of this trading system, since without them the existence of this business formula would not be possible. Without a doubt, their points of view and their experiences will be heard and taken into account in the Association”.

For his part, Eduardo Abadía, Executive Director of the AEF, assures that “we have taken a very important step for the franchise system in general, by integrating franchisees into the Association, in order to be able to hear their voice. That has forced us to change our name and our statutes, but now we can say that we represent the entire Spanish franchise”.

At the same time we celebrate the XXX Annual General Assembly of the AEF for the year 2022 has taken place in a hybrid, face-to-face and virtual format.

Our President made a balance of the financial year 2022, and then the development of said activities and the economic closure of the same was presented for the approval of the Assembly. The objectives and the 2023 budget were presented, which were put to the vote both at the end of 2022 and the 2023 budget, which was approved unanimously. Likewise, the election of the new President/President was held, with the candidacy presented by Luisa Masuet being approved by a majority.
