Dill Dinkers™ Enters New Territory with 14-Unit Regional Development Deal in Southeast Pennsylvania

December 21, 2023 // Franchising.com // COLUMBIA, MD - Dill Dinkers Pickleball announced signing its eighth regional developer for 14 locations in southeast Pennsylvania spanning across Chester and Montgomery counties.

Spearheading the development of Dill Dinkers in Pennsylvania is a father and son team, both veterans, who are committed to bringing a premier dedicated indoor pickleball offering to those communities. Andrew Wakefield, who joined the Army Reserves as a commissioned officer upon graduation from Florida State University, has a dynamic background as a real estate developer, and the founder of a logistics company in Baltimore, Maryland. He now transitions into this entrepreneurial role in the sports and recreation industry after being hooked on playing pickleball at Dill Dinker’s flagship location in Columbia, Maryland. As a former tennis-gone pickleball player, he values the player experience at Dill Dinkers, with frictionless technology, well-constructed courts, and how the club was accessible to all ages and skill levels to improve and enjoy the sport in a fun and safe way. His father, Andy Wakefield, served as a Naval Flight Officer for 9 years and 17 years in the Naval Reserves, and currently is a senior executive in the lighting industry, will provide support.

“The Wakefields are exactly the type of developers we are looking for,” says Dr. Ben Litalien, Chief Development Officer, “They are veterans who honorably served our country and are an integral part of their community, and believe in the power of pickleball to drive impact locally. We are excited to support them as they build something special for the southeast region in Pennsylvania and their family.”

After learning about the Dill Dinkers regional developer model, Andrew and his father were committed to developing Dill Dinkers in Pennsylvania, especially considering it is a big tennis part of the country. Both Andrew and his father are looking forward to paving the way for other business owners in Chester and Montgomery counties to take advantage of early entry into a simple dedicated indoor pickleball concept and creating a place for the community to gather and form connections year-round.
