Spherion Staffing and Recruiting in Midland Welcomes New Leadership

January 09, 2024 // Franchising.com // MIDLAND, Mich. - Spherion Staffing and Recruiting (Spherion) announced today that its Midland office is now under the leadership of local staffing expert Sarah Ross. Ross will assume ownership of the office as of January 3.

“My favorite part about my job is connecting people with the right opportunities to fit their needs, whether that be clients or candidates,” said Ross. “I was initially hired on by our former owner, Kathy Weaver, as a temp worker back in 2014, and looking back, it is amazing to see how far she and I have come together. I am so proud to be able to continue building upon her legacy as she transitions into retirement.”

Ross joined the Spherion Midland team as a colleague in 2014, where she has cultivated more than a decade-long career in the staffing and recruiting industry. Throughout her tenure, she's taken on various roles, focusing on customer service and stepping into managerial positions to help steer the day-to-day operations of the office. She also served as an on-premise manager, representing Spherion on-site at a manufacturing company.

Most recently, Ross has been successfully managing the Midland location for nearly two years, for which she earned recognition as Business Developer of the Year and Contract Recruiter of the Year at Spherion’s annual National Meeting. Now, as the franchise owner, she is eager to continue Spherion Midland’s legacy of helping candidates and businesses get to work.

“It is important to me that my business is left in the right hands and that the community continues to feel the local impact of Spherion,” said Kathy Weaver, former franchise owner of Spherion Midland. “This office has greatly impacted my life over the past 30 years. I am proud to have been able to mentor Sarah into the leader that she is today and know that she will build a strong legacy of her own at Spherion Midland.”

Spherion Midland joined the brand’s franchise network in 1994. Weaver, who has built a more than 30-year career in the staffing and recruiting industry, founded the branch. As she retires, she will still be heavily involved in ensuring a seamless transition of ownership to Ross.

“Sarah has quite a remarkable story with Spherion and has consistently proven herself as a leader at the Midland office throughout her time there,” said Kathy George, Executive Vice President of Spherion. “Of course, we will miss having Kathy as part of our franchise system, but we know that her legacy is in good hands with Sarah. She will have our unwavering support during this ownership transition.”
