January 10, 2024 // Franchising.com // GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - New York Fries announced today its latest opening and reentrance into the U.S. New York Fries was first born in New York City’s South Street Seaport in 1983 where it began as a small french fry shop before going on to become a staple in food courts across Canada. New York Fries was acquired by Recipe Restaurant Group in 2015.

Opening on January 9 in Roosevelt Field’s Dining District his restaurant will be corporate-owned and operated while supported by the New York Fries team in the United States. The niche menu stars freshly cut fries, made with Idaho potatoes, served plain or loaded with a variety of toppings including beef chili, pulled pork, queso and crumbled bacon. Also on the menu, a classic Canadian delicacy - poutine - topped with brown gravy and Wisconsin cheese curds. Additionally, the brand features all-beef grilled hot dogs and an array of delicious loaded dog options.

“This New York opening marks a milestone for us,” said Craig Burt, Chief Operating Officer at New York Fries. “As a brand that got its start serving 3 sizes of fresh-cut fries and 3 sizes of soda in New York City back in 1983, we’re thrilled to make our official return and bring our fry based menu to fry-lovers across the state and eventually across the East Coast.”

New York Fries has freshly cut potatoes in non-hydrogenated sunflower oil using a unique 3 stage method. As nothing else goes into the fryers except potatoes, the brand appeals to those with dietary and allergen restrictions, serving vegan, vegetarian and gluten-friendly items.
