January 11, 2024 // Franchising.com // BALTIMORE - Sylvan Learning awarded 13 territories in the greater Detroit, Mich. area to new franchise owners and cousins Ed Bahoura and Natalie Yasso.

Bahoura and Yasso have been business partners for almost three decades. They signed for 10 new territories. The multi-unit deal, one of Sylvan’s largest to date, also includes an acquisition of three territories with four existing centers.

“We’re proudly committed to introducing Sylvan to communities and school districts across the greater Detroit area,” said Yasso. “We see a desperate need for supplemental education resources, and there’s no brand better than Sylvan to meet that growing demand.”

Ed has owned nearly 20 businesses over the last 40 years, including supermarkets, liquor stores, video stores as well as being a licensed Builder and Realtor. Ed is very active in his church and is a Fourth Degree member of his local Knights of Columbus chapter. He has served as past chairman of the board of Gleaners Community Foodbank of Southeastern Michigan, one of the largest food banks in the country. He also supports many causes and organizations that support children, seniors and veterans.

“There is nothing more important than educating the next generation,” said Bahoura. “Sylvan is a great way to diversify our business portfolio and scale our operations, all while making a lasting impact in our community.”

The new territories will be located across the Detroit metro area, with resale territories located in Dearborn, Livonia and West Bloomfield.
