Sylvan Learning Awards Second Territory to Local Couple, Educators in New York
January 11, 2024 // Franchising.com // BALTIMORE — Sylvan Learning awarded a new territory in Glenville, N.Y. to Audrey and John Waterfield, the owners of another territory in Wilton. The location is slated to open in early 2024.
Audrey and John met at Niskayung High School and later married. They both obtained their masters degree in education and worked for Sylvan before becoming franchise owners.
“Our territories now include the community we call home,” said Audrey. “John and I met here, our kids go to school here and we know firsthand that there’s a desire and need for supplemental education services. Growing into Glenville will allow us to serve more families and make a lasting impact on their lives.”
After working for Sylvan for several years combined, the Waterfields felt franchise ownership was the next logical step. “We did our due diligence and researched other franchise concepts,” said John. “However, we always came back to Sylvan. The concept comes with a strong network of support and allows us to maintain a connection to what we love doing, which is teaching.”
“Audrey and John are committed to turning their passion for education into a successful multi- center business,” said Jeff Stephenson, Vice President of Franchise Development at Sylvan. “We’re proud to support them as they grow their influence and open their center in Glenville.”
