SYNERGY HomeCare Announces Newest Franchise in Charlotte Suburb

February 07, 2024 // Franchising.com // Tempe, Ariz. - SYNERGY HomeCare has announced its newest location in one of Charlotte’s most desirable suburbs, SYNERGY HomeCare of Concord.

The company is owned and operated by Sherry Shepherd, an Air Force Veteran and former leader in corporate America who decided to change careers after realizing she had more to give than what she was currently offering from her corporate position.

Headquartered at 88 Church Street NE in Concord, N.C., the company assists residents of Concord as well as the neighboring communities of Kannapolis and Landis with a wide variety of non-medical care options. Shepherd’s team of caregiving professionals provide services including companion care, personal care, respite care, and specialized memory care for those living with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

As a Charlotte resident for almost ten years, Shepherd recognized a growing need in her community for these services, particularly among Baby Boomers.

Shepherd spent over 15 years managing the needs of Fortune 500 clients, including six years leading the Customer Success and Experience departments with both a local and national healthcare provider. It was during these pivotal experiences that she was able to learn both the trends of the healthcare industry as a whole, as well as the specific caregiving needs of her community. Part of her everyday responsibilities was to interact with patients and listen to how their experience could have been made better. As a customer success professional, she was limited to only making these improvements within her company, but now, she wants to implement them across her entire community.

“I’ve worked in corporate settings for almost my entire career, but at the end of the day, it just wasn’t filling my cup,” said Shepherd. “I always felt like I could give more than what I was currently offering, and finally, I decided to branch out on my own and make that happen. I’ve got the knowledge, but more importantly, I’ve got the drive to improve the lives of others.”

Serving others is a core value that Shepherd was raised with. This philosophy inspired both her and her sister to enlist in the U.S. Air Force. Once Shepherd returned to civilian life, she continued to serve her community through participation in a number of charitable causes. Shepherd volunteers to transport patients to and from doctor’s appointments, she participates in multiple events that assist the local homeless population, and every year, Shepherd joins her community’s Christmas drives. Now, she can finally use her benevolent philosophy in a professional context.

“This isn’t a business venture, this is a calling,” said Shepherd. “I knew that my passion for others would translate well into being the leader of a community-facing company, and once I came into contact with SYNERGY HomeCare, I knew that company would be in the homecare industry. Throughout each interaction with the brand’s clients and employees, I’ve been assured that SYNERGY HomeCare is the vehicle I need to make the most change.”

In the Concord area, many residents could benefit from a stronger local support system. Shepherd and her caregivers want to be this source of support by offering assistance with tasks such as cooking, shopping, running errands, doing light housekeeping or going for walks. Her team will also provide personal care such as help with bathing, dressing or using the toilet.

“I understand the importance of quality service and ensuring that every client’s voice is heard,” said Shepherd. “Every experience is personal and I want our clients to feel comfortable knowing that every care plan is tailored exactly to their specific needs.”
