Zaxby’s Expands to New Franchise Territories in Dallas Metro with Family Team

February 22, 2024 // Franchising.com // ATHENS, Ga. - Zaxby's is pleased to announce its expansion into the Dallas metro area with the acquisition of three new territories by the SIGWELL GROUP. The group, formed by part owner Jade Sigler, her brother Derald Powell, and their three siblings, is set to bring Zaxby's to the growing Dallas market.

“We're excited to make a significant impact in the city we call home,” said Derald Powell.

The family's decision to partner with Zaxby's was largely influenced by Jade's deep-seated appreciation for the brand, nurtured during her college years at Spelman in Atlanta.

“My love for Zaxby's started back in college,” Jade remarked. “So, when our family decided to invest in a franchise, I immediately suggested Zaxby's. We found that their appeal goes beyond just their delicious food; it's about the genuine, authentic culture they've fostered, blending professionalism with fun.”

The SIGWELL GROUP plans to open its first Zaxby's location by the end of 2024, with a focus on building a family business that contributes to generational wealth. The siblings have a diverse entrepreneurial background, including learning centers, and real estate property rentals. However, partnering with Zaxby's marks their first foray into the food franchise industry, chosen for its alignment with their personal and professional values.

“We're thrilled to have the SIGWELL GROUP join our family and help grow Zaxby's in the greater Dallas metro.” said Bert Lane, Zaxby's Vice President of Development.

For the SIGWELL GROUP, working together as a family has been a cornerstone of their success. Inspired by their mother's entrepreneurial spirit and their father's motivational pep talks, the siblings view business as an integral part of their family identity.

“Business discussions are a part of our family gatherings; it's just part of who we are,” said Powell. “Despite any challenges, we know we're stronger together as a family, and we are committed to the long-term vision of working as a unit for the greater good.”
