Local Entrepreneur Steve Peterson Honored as Castle Rock's Citizen of the Year

February 23, 2024 // Franchising.com // CASTLE ROCK, Colo. - A local business owner and Castle Rock resident has been recognized with the Citizen of the Year award by the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce. Steve Peterson, owner of Christian Brothers Automotive (CBA) locations in both Castle Rock and Lone Tree, and Chamber Member for over 10 years, was named the recipient of the award, highlighting his continued dedication and impact within the community.

The Citizen of the Year award is part of a local effort; community members nominate citizens who have made a difference in Douglas County, presenting the award to an other-focused individual based on their many years of volunteer work within the community. Scratching the surface of his community involvement, Peterson, this year's recipient, has served as the Interim Executive Director of Aspire Scholarships, supporting students facing post-high school education challenges. He was also active in the Castle Pines Chamber, aiding local businesses, and has contributed to housing for Wellspring Community, which supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, by assisting in hotel demolition. Additionally, his CBA stores have provided free auto repair services to single, military, and widowed mothers, showcasing his commitment to supporting Castle Rock residents.

“After moving to Castle Rock and experiencing the area’s vibrancy and warmth, I knew I wanted to get involved from the get-go. My wife, Andrea, and I dove right in, and it's been a fulfilling journey, both personally and professionally, ever since,” said Peterson. “It’s because of this wonderful community that we get to do what we love to do every day, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I have been given to pour back into those who have given so much to us. As a local business owner with Christian Brothers Automotive, I am firmly aligned with our brand’s commitment to community service, knowing our impact extends beyond our shop walls."

Peterson's journey from banking to healthcare and eventual franchise ownership showcases his entrepreneurial spirit and drive. Transitioning from previous CFO and CEO roles, Peterson was drawn to Christian Brothers Automotive by shared values with the company and the chance to work alongside his wife, Andrea. Since opening their shop in Castle Rock in 2014, his leadership has positioned CBA Castle Rock as a top-performing store, marked by record-breaking sales and Peterson’s recognition as a Certified Franchise Trainer.

“Steve embodies our values as a company and we are continually impressed by his service to others and his commitment to excellence,” said Donnie Carr, President and CEO of Christian Brothers Automotive. “From donating refurbished vehicles to supporting local organizations, Steve’s initiatives exemplify our mission to serve people first and their cars second.”
