Kumon Launches English for Spanish Speakers Program in Los Angeles

August 02, 2024 // Franchising.com // RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Kumon North America has launched its new English for Spanish Speakers Program in the greater Los Angeles area, continuing the program's U.S. debut.

This program is part of Kumon’s English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Program, which assists English language learners who speak multiple languages around the world. With its proven success in assisting more than 100,000 students worldwide, the EFL Program is set to transform language learning for non-native English speakers.

“We are thrilled to further expand Kumon’s EFL Program to the centers in the Los Angeles area,” said Mino Tanabe, CEO at Kumon North America. “We know this program will provide invaluable support to students who want to improve their English language skills.”

The EFL Program caters to the unique needs of students who want to enhance their English proficiency. By leveraging the Kumon Method, students in Los Angeles have access to a comprehensive and structured approach to master English.

Sheeza Zuberi, instructor at the Kumon Center of Fullerton-Downtown, is one of five Kumon instructors in the Los Angeles area to offer the program at her center.

“With the English for Spanish Speakers Program, I believe we can truly impact our students who are grappling with English by simplifying the learning process,” she said. “I am thrilled that with this program, we now have the necessary tools to help our students learn and excel in English. I am eager to introduce this program at my center and see the positive changes it brings.”

The program's launch in the U.S. last month in South Florida opens new opportunities for students to broaden their linguistic horizons and excel in an increasingly diverse and interconnected world.

The English for Spanish Speakers program is available at select centers in the Los Angeles area, which include:

• Long Beach-Bixby Knolls: 4151 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach
• Downey-Central: 8143 Firestone Blvd., Downey
• San Fernando: 735 S. Workman St., San Fernando
• Fullerton-Downtown: 118 E. Amerige Ave., Fullerton
• Simi Valley – East: 2139 Tapo St. Unit No. 114, Simi Valley
• Simi Valley – West: 2424 Erringer Road, Simi Valley
