SYNERGY Homecare of Fort Mill Enters New Era of Ownership

March 03, 2025 // Franchising.com // Tempe, Ariz. – SYNERGY® HomeCare has announced new ownership of its Rock Hill-based location in South Carolina, SYNERGY HomeCare of Fort Mill.

The company’s new owners are the mother-daughter duo of Bonnie and Anna Campanella. Bonnie’s previous career was spent teaching K-12 special education, while Anna has a bachelor’s degree in health sciences and a master’s degree in leadership. Together, the Campanellas hope to create a family legacy based on their passion for community, service, and empathy.

The company will faithfully serve residents throughout York County. Under the new leadership of the Campanellas, the company will provide a wide variety of non-medical, in-home care services, from companion care to personal care and respite care.

Since first opening its doors in 2022, SYNERGY HomeCare of Fort Mill has witnessed the growing need for these services, particularly among Baby Boomers. U.S. Census statistics show that 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day and that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over 65. According to the AARP, over 80% of this demographic reports wanting to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.

When Bonnie wasn’t spending her time providing special education services in South Carolina schools, she was busy serving in her church’s elder care ministry and volunteering at local nursing homes. Between these experiences, Bonnie developed deeply personal relationships with many of the same people who she can now serve as the owner of SYNERGY HomeCare of Fort Mill.

“I’ve always had a heart for serving others,” said Bonnie. “I’ve been so fortunate that much of my professional career has been centered around service, but now, I want to take my commitment to care to the next level. Running a caregiving company isn’t just a job to me. I believe this is my calling and this is the most meaningful way I can fulfill my mission of serving others.”

By Bonnie’s side in leadership is Anna, who shares her mother’s passion for empathy and relationship-building. With a formal education in both health sciences and leadership, Anna is well-equipped to help her mother manage the day-to-day operations of the family business.

“Working alongside my mom and building a family legacy together is so special for us,” said Anna. “Throughout my life, she has instilled the importance of selflessness and service within me, and to be able to put those values into practice alongside her is truly fulfilling.”

Northeast South Carolina is home to several quality healthcare facilities and retirement housing options. These opportunities coupled with the area’s relatively low cost of living and temperate climate have made it an attractive choice for many older adults. Many of those same adults often rely on outside assistance with things like cooking, shopping, running errands, doing light housekeeping or going for walks. Some even struggle to find help with personal care, such as help with bathing, dressing or using the toilet.

“Our clients can feel at ease knowing that they’re working with a family business,” said Bonnie. “Before welcoming any caregiver to our team, the first question we ask is ‘Would this be someone we want taking care of our own loved ones?’ We’ll never make any compromises when it comes to providing the best possible care, and we fully understand the importance of creating genuine relationships when it comes to matching caregivers to clients.”
