Can you describe the origins of Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming?

Marin: Our company's founders had been frequenting the same pet supply retailer week after week and had yet to be greeted by name or to experience a satisfactory level of service. They felt it was cold and no one knew them or their dogs, so they wanted to open a store that would deliver the personal service they found lacking. With that in mind, Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming was launched in November of 2007 in Abacoa, Florida. Four months later, the company’s first franchise location opened.

Originally, many of our locations were designed to include a bakery, before grooming was introduced. While the locations we are building today will not include a bakery, we continue to offer our proprietary selection of human-grade baked goods for dogs through our exclusive line of Woof Gang gourmet treats. We expanded our focus from baking and retail to grooming in 2018, when we noticed the trend for grooming rising. By 2019, grooming officially overtook retail as our primary source of sales. Today, we groom more than one million dogs a year. 

What makes the brand unique?

Marin: Woof Gang is the neighborhood pet store with a boutique feel for pet owners who are looking for personalized services and premium treats for their pets. We create a loving, respectful, and playful environment for pets and their owners and deliver superior grooming services, all-natural pet treats and food products, and a sense of community where all are welcome. What do you look for in a franchisee?

Marin: Someone who has a passion for people and pets, enjoys a fast-paced environment, and is customer service-focused. Our successful operators understand the importance of following our training and operational standards.

Marin: We are looking to grow nationally but with priority markets being California, Texas, New England, Michigan, Chicago, Atlanta, and Minneapolis.
