Why did you choose to franchise with a service brand?

I enjoy building relationships, developing people, and creating meaningful value for clients. Service businesses are ultimately people businesses. While products can often be commoditized, exceptional service and strong client experiences create long-term loyalty and sustainable growth.

How did you choose the sector and brand you did?

I saw my parents begin to build the brand from scratch in a new territory. I knew the company’s history, liked its business model, appreciated its strong culture, and knew its mission to change the way the world does business was one I genuinely believed in. As a second-generation franchisee, I had personally experienced the power of relationships grown through BNI already.

As a young entrepreneur, BNI's track record, global reputation, and clear systems gave me confidence that the model could scale. What ultimately sealed the deal for me was the impact the business has on its members. Helping entrepreneurs and professionals grow through meaningful business relationships gave me a purpose-driven business that is both rewarding and sustainable.

What different skill sets are required for franchising with a service brand?

I have learned that growing a service brand is less about doing the work yourself and more about developing people and building systems that consistently deliver value. Some of the most important skills I focus on are recruiting and developing talent, relationship building, and time management and prioritization.

What are the advantages of choosing a service brand?

On the business side, one major advantage is scalability. Service brands often have lower overhead and fewer physical assets. Having a lower overhead allows you to focus more resources on growth and talent development. On the emotional side, the personal nature of a service brand also allows you to create deep customer relationships and make a direct impact on their lives. Because of this, customers tend to stay longer and become advocates for your business.

What are some keys to being able to operate multiple franchises at the same time?

From an operations standpoint, it is powerful to build out your current organization chart and get clear on how it serves your clients. Identify areas to improve customer experience through changing roles, adding roles, and create a vision of how your support needs to evolve to build the scale of operations you want.

What are some of the top ways in which you have been able to market and promote your business?

The most effective marketing has come from building relationships and creating advocates for the brand. People are far more likely to engage when they hear about your business from someone they already know and respect.

What would you recommend to anyone considering a service brand?

First, choose a brand whose mission and values genuinely resonate with you. You're not just buying a business model. You're committing years of your life to building and representing that brand. Second, be prepared to lead people. In a service business, your success is directly tied to your ability to recruit, develop, and retain great talent. Finally, understand that systems create freedom. Follow the proven model, invest in leadership development, and focus on building a business that can operate effectively without depending on you for every decision.

The most successful franchisees I know are not simply operators. They are leaders who build strong teams, create great customer experiences, and continuously develop the people around them.
