9th Annual Multi-Unit Franchising Conference Achieves Greatest Success Ever

Despite Down Economy, Attendance Increased by 30 Percent Over Last Year, Featuring More Than 100 Sponsors and a Sold Out Exhibit Floor

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 13, 2010 - The 9th Annual Multi-Unit Franchising Conference, sponsored by Multi-Unit Franchisee Magazine achieved its greatest success ever. Despite a down economy, conference attendance was up 30 percent over last year, featured more than 100 sponsors, and a sold-out exhibit hall. The conference was held at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, March 24-26, where Mike Ditka, former Super Bowl-winning coach, was the keynote speaker.

"Multi-unit franchises are one of the most important drivers of economic growth in the country, and this conference offers the ideal venue for industry leaders to network with their peers, gather information about concepts they are interested in, and discover new opportunities," said Therese Thilgen, president of Franchise Update Media Group, the magazine's publisher.

More than 200 franchisee organizations with operations in all states across the country were represented at the conference. These industry leaders operate a total of 5,065 units, generate more than $3 billion in revenue, and provide jobs for 95,226 people. A majority of attendees - 70% - came to the conference because they are interested in seeking additional brands.

"We have created a strong community, built on the foundation of Multi-Unit Franchisee magazine, and supported by the online newsletter and this conference," Thilgen said. "This is the premier conference in the industry, and continues to be recognized as the must-attend event of the year, where large, multi-unit franchisees and industry suppliers come ready to do business."

The 10th Annual Multi-Unit Franchising Conference will return to Las Vegas April 27-29, 2011.
