Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip Elevates Business with Roast and Ground Coffee

As a premium restaurant franchisor, Crest Foods, the franchisor of Nestlé® Toll House® Café by Chip®, has created and refined a hearty menu that includes everything from freshly baked cookies and confections to panini sandwiches and sweet crepes. Now the concept is giving notice that it’s in the premium coffee business and it aims to compete.

“The coffee market is out there and we decided that we are ready to take our share from the US market,” says Aya El Baba, Senior Director of Global Operations for Crest Foods. Indeed, the concept has seen demand for gourmet coffee from its customers rise quickly in recent years. That’s why now seemed like the perfect time to elevate the business with the premium roast and ground coffee program.

“Our customers demand and deserve a better, more elevated coffee offering,” adds Ziad Dalal, CEO of Crest Foods. To meet this demand, the concept has introduced “Boundi” roast. The Boundi roast is made from only the highest quality Arabica and Robusta coffee beans and expertly roasted and blended by a master roaster. The result is a highly satisfying and uniquely intense coffee experience.

Kimberly Tauch, Director of Business Development, says, “It has been described by our guests as something like no other. I love the fact that we are coming to market with a unique, bold flavor profile that will appeal to the coffee drinker that currently does not find what he wants in today's coffee bars.”

Guests will find a wide range of coffee menu items such as Espresso, Latte, Cappuccino, Mocha, Caramel Macchiato, and Turtle Mocha. All can be served up hot or iced exactly as the guest desires. There’s much more to the menu, including a wide range of Frappe drinks made with Espresso shots.

The elevated coffee product is a cause for celebration for Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip’s customers and its franchisees. That’s because the coffee offers franchisees a complementary product with good profit margins and increases customer traffic, says Dalal.

“Initial reports show an increase in coffee sales between 35% and 40% for existing cafes,” says Tauch. “We expect that new cafes opening in 2020 will see coffee sales at about 50% of gross sales.”

The unique new menu addition positions Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip as a coffee bar and cafe that now gives people even more reasons to walk through the doors. It is not every day that someone treats themselves to decadent brownies or Toll House cookies, but they do drink coffee daily.

“We are known for our delicious cookies,” says Tauch. “Now our goal is to be the go-to spot for coffee lovers.”
