Dream Doors Franchise Overview
About Dream Doors
Dream Doors specialises in replacement kitchen doors, but also supplies worktops, sinks and top-brand appliances. Customers choose a Dream Doors kitchen facelift as it saves them time, money and stress. The Dream Doors franchise opportunity is ideally suited to those with sales or management expertise. Kitchen experience isn't necessary as sub-contracted fitters are employed to handle the installations. This is a white collar management franchise, one that is premises based and would be perfect for couples or husband and wife teams.
Since its inception in 1999, Dream Doors has grown from humble beginnings as a single outfit in Hampshire to become the UK's largest kitchen facelift retailer and a multi-award winning retail franchise. Managing director, Troy Tappenden, started out with just £500 in his pocket and a burning desire to be his own boss. More than a decade later, Dream Doors has 40 showrooms stretching from Exeter to Lancaster and from Kingston to Newcastle. The company owned outlet aside, each showroom is locally owned, operated as either a management franchise or a family-run business. One of the rare retail success stories in recent times, Dream Doors has grown by an average of 18 percent each year since 2008. Some of that growth comes from new franchisees and subsequent showroom openings, but like-for-like sales have increased by ten percent annually. In January this year, Dream Doors posted record sales of £1.3million, an increase of of 95 percent on the £632,000 achieved in the same period last year. First quarter sales finished up 50 percent, and more than half the franchise network have sold more than £100,000 already this year. Dream Doors has come a very long way since I started out on my own,” says Tappenden. “We have so much strength in depth now, and that's why they keep breaking records. Their established showrooms, those that have been with them for six and seven years or more, are consistently delivering stellar months. Now, with the new showrooms kicking in and some very high calibre franchisees joining their network in the last 18 months, 2012 is set to be another great year for Dream Doors.” He adds: “We're growing at a rate that surprises even me. For the last three years – in the teeth of the biggest global recession in living memory – Dream Doors has grown by almost 20 percent each year. That's not just the new showrooms opening, although that is a good indicator of success, but its also through like-for-like sales and their existing showrooms that are performing better and better each year. In 2008 Dream Doors' network sales were just over £6million. In January 2012 their network sales were more than £1.3million – almost a quarter of what they sold annually just four years ago!”
