About Edo Japan
Established in 1979 in Calgary, Alberta, Edo Japan was designed to bring the freshness of hot Japanese Teppan-style cooking to suburban shopping centres and food courts across Canada. Offering the highest quality, freshly prepared food in the quick service restaurant industry, Edo Japan has quickly become a popular alternative with more than 112 locations across Canada, serving more than eight million meals annually.
Edo Japan's success began in 1977 in Calgary, Alberta with the opening of it's first location in Southcentre Mall. The sites are designed to be the center of attraction in any food court, with special emphasis given to their unique color scheme, lighting and quality construction. Edo Japan units convey the importance of a clean environment serving high quality, fresh Japanese food.
It's not news that the Japanese flavour of good health and great fast food is a lucrative business venture. Japanese food is the fastest growing food sector since 2000 according to The Canadian Restaurant and Foodservice Association. In less recent times, their Asian menu offerings may have been considered exotic. Today however, Edo menus are what they have always been - a success! For over 25 years, Edo's Teppan style grills have successfully served up the quick, fresh nutrition of vegetables and proteins. Not trendy, just simply healthy and delicious! Edo's garden fresh veggies, exotic spices and grills of sukiyaki beef and teriyaki chicken are now a preferred alternative to less nourishing, higher calorie meals found in traditional fast food offerings.
Their customers enjoy the benefit of having their food cooked fresh with sizzle and style, right before their eyes! First time customers marvel at their talented Teppan cooks as they skilfully flash the utensils across the grill and artfully plate the fresh and delicious meals. Their regular clientele have come to recognize Edo Japan as a leader in delivering fresh, nutritious and delicious meals. Either way, customers return to savour the healthy menu choices that are all topped with their signature teriyaki sauce.
Today, Edo Japan and it's team of franchisee's have grown to over 90 stores across Canada and the United States. Exciting new menu offerings are continually developed and skilfully grilled to meet the changing tastes of North American consumers.
