Papa Murphy's Catapulted up Top 100 Restaurants Census

Take 'n' bake pizza giant's 2008 sales grew four times that of its nearest pizza competitor

July 15, 2009 // Franchising.com // VANCOUVER, Wash. - Papa Murphy's International announced today that in 2008 it achieved the third highest growth in estimated sales per unit among the country's 100 largest foodservice chains1, as reported in the 36th Annual Nation's Restaurant News Top 100 census report. Additionally, Papa Murphy's sales grew over four times that of its nearest pizza competitor. In fact, among the nation's six largest pizza chains, Papa Murphy's saw the greatest growth in U.S. systemwide sales in 2008. The company, which currently operates over 1,100 locations in 32 states and two provinces in Canada, now boasts the fifth highest U.S. sales volume in the pizza segment.

"Today's economic pressures have tested our ability to stay the course in some areas of the business while becoming very nimble in others," said John Barr, CEO at Papa Murphy's. "In addition to some new, innovative marketing strategies, we continue to attract new franchise owners with our low initial investment and an easy-to-operate platform.
