Silver Spring, MD --(PR.com)-- The Four Corners office of Jackson Hewitt Tax Service®, encourages tax payers to file early this tax season, especially if they are expecting an income tax refund. On January 15, 2010 the IRS had its season launch of IRS e-file, allowing tax filers to file electronically and reap the benefits, including faster receipt of an expected refund. And for area residents who have yet to receive their Form W-2s, that is no reason to delay as they may be able to have their W-2 electronically downloaded for free at a nearby Jackson Hewitt® location.
"We don't want area taxpayers to overlook two very important tax time tips - file early and file electronically via IRS e-file," said John J. Lah, MBA/CFA, franchise owner of the Jackson Hewitt - Four Corners office. "With so many recent tax law changes, many very pro-taxpayer, providing an opportunity to obtain new or increased deductions or credits, filing early and accurately is critical to obtaining the largest refund they are entitled to receive.
According to the IRS, more than 67 percent of taxpayers electronically file via IRS e-file, with 95 million tax returns e-filed in 2009*. IRS e-file provides filers with a number of benefits, including:
Faster refunds – Taxpayers can receive an expected refund in half the time than if they were to prepare and mail a paper income tax return. Accuracy – IRS e-file helps to quickly identify mistakes, such as mathematical errors.
Speedy confirmation – E-filers receive notification that their return has been received within 48 hours.
"For taxpayers using IRS e-file, which we refer to as 'IRS Direct' at Jackson Hewitt, and is provided free with paid tax preparation, tax filers can have their expected refund directly deposited to their bank account in just 8 to 15 days, said Mr. Lah.
Employers are currently mailing or preparing to mail Form W-2s to their current and prior employees. It is important to note that employers are required to mail all W-2s by Monday, February 1. For taxpayers who desire to file early, but may not have received their W-2 in the mail yet, W-2 Download is available to Jackson Hewitt clients whose employers use ADP, TALX or CIC Plus to print their Form W-2s. The download is done through a secure system that provides direct entry into Jackson Hewitt's proprietary tax software, allowing an electronic version of a taxpayer's Form W-2 to be used in the preparation of their income tax return.
Jackson Hewitt has several resources available for consumers at www.jacksonhewitt.com, including information on IRS Direct and W-2 Download. In addition to information on the new tax laws and changes, taxpayers will find a list of What to Bring to a tax preparation session, Tax Filing FAQ's and other helpful information.
