Freshii Signs 2nd Multi-unit Franchise Deal For San Francisco

Healthy Fast Casual Concept Plans for 3 Additional San Francisco Restaurants

May 12, 2010 // Franchising.com // Chicago, IL — Freshii, a Chicago based fast casual chain known for its modern, hip vibe and convenient, healthy and delicious meals and snacks, has signed its second San Francisco franchise agreement in the past six months. Entrepreneur Kathy Razvan has signed a multi-unit franchise deal to open a minimum of three Freshii restaurants in San Francisco. Earlier in the year, Freshii announced that new franchisee Wendy Kanno-Hendryx would be opening Freshii in downtown San Francisco. Kanno-Hendryx has signed a lease for Freshii at 230 Bush Street in the Financial District and will be opening her restaurant later this year.

"Freshii is the future of fast food – fresh, healthy and delicious meals served in a manner consistent with today's busy lifestyles. We were also very impressed with Freshii's environmental consciousness. Freshii is the complete package. We can't wait to open our first unit," said franchisee Kathy Razvan. Kathy brings over 15 years of restaurant and franchise experience to Freshii, including an extensive background in Human Resources.

"San Francisco is a top tier target market for Freshii, as the 6th largest metro in the US. I'm thrilled to have two strong franchise partners to open the market for us," says Matthew Corrin, Freshii CEO. "Kathy is an ideal partner for Freshii; she is an experienced operator with a passion for health and wellness."

There are more than 20 Freshii restaurants in Chicago, Washington, DC, Denver, and Toronto, several new restaurants currently under construction, and an additional 300 units in varying stages of development in the US (Washington, DC; Denver, Colorado; Orange County, California; Los Angeles and San Francisco, California; Houston, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; Manhattan, New York; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and internationally in Canada, the United Arab Emirates and Austria.

Freshii's popularity skyrocketed since the first location opened in Toronto in 2005, winning Freshii the title of Best New Retail Concept in Canada during its first year of business. Two years later, Freshii was named the 22nd Fastest Growing Company in Canada. U.S.-based QSR Magazine has dubbed Freshii "One to Watch," and Fast Casual Magazine ranked Freshii in its 2009 Top 100 Movers & Shakers report. Freshii founder and CEO, Matthew Corrin, was interviewed by Sir Richard Branson at an interactive entrepreneur's summit. Corrin was also featured in a 2010 Visa Small Business television commercial. The media buzz surrounding Freshii continued in a February 2010 article by Fast Casual Magazine titled "Is Matthew Corrin the next Howard Schultz?"
