Edible Arrangements(R) Invites America To Take The Pledge!

New Initiative Encourages Healthy Eating To Promote Happiness

WALLINGFORD, CT, August 9th, 2011 // PRNewswire // — The Fruit Experts® at Edible Arrangements® are celebrating the launch of their new campaign inviting America to take "The Pledge of Health and Happiness" from August 7-13th on Facebook or at any of Edible Arrangements' 1,000 store locations. The Pledge of Health and Happiness is a simple call to action and challenge to eat at least one half plate of fresh fruits and vegetables per day, the new USDA recommendation, for the rest of the summer and beyond.

With obesity on the rise, the USDA has introduced the new food icon Myplate to serve as a quick and visual reminder to make healthy meal and snacking choices. The plate demonstrates that one half of a person's daily food intake should consist of fresh fruits and vegetables, which can be a challenging percentage for busy Americans to stick to on a daily basis, but a necessary challenge to take on because a healthier lifestyle leads to greater happiness.

According to an Edible Arrangements recent Happiness Survey conducted by Harris Interactive, 95% of U.S. adults surveyed agree that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is an important factor in a person's overall happiness.

"The Pledge of Health and Happiness" is part of Edible Arrangements' Random Acts of Happiness® (RAOH) campaign, a nationwide non-profit program benefiting Big Brother Big Sisters. The finalists for the contest within this program are now posted at actsofhappiness.com with over 24,000 votes to-date.

From August 7 – 13, Edible Arrangements®, invites consumers to "Take the Pledge" and help raise awareness that healthy eating choices lead to happiness. Edible Arrangements® is rewarding each individual who takes the pledge with a free Pineapple Daisy Pop as a little "Random Act of Happiness" to kick start the pledge. Consumers can sign the pledge at any of Edible Arrangements' 1,000 store locations nationwide or on Facebook.com/EdibleArrangements. Additionally, Happiness Ambassadors from Edible Arrangements® and Big Brothers Big Sisters will be positioned throughout New York City on August 9th, inviting participants to take the pledge.

"As the leader in real fresh fruit arrangements, we want to encourage people to lead a healthier lifestyle, which we know is a key ingredient to living happier," states Steve Thomas, VP of Marketing at Edible Arrangements. "Big Brothers Big Sisters, our partners for Random Acts of Happiness, also shares our passion for healthy living and we are thrilled that they are once again working with us on this new initiative."

The Pledge of Health and Happiness:
