Huddle House Named 2012 Military Friendly Franchise by G.I. Jobs Magazine

May 22, 2012 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA - Huddle House, a 400+ unit family dining restaurant, is pleased to announce it is ranked in the top 10 percent of all franchises nationwide and named a 2012 Military Friendly Franchise® by G.I. Jobs Magazine. Huddle House honors military veterans all year round by offering service members a discounted franchise fee through the VetFran program, allowing veterans to use their training and operational skills in a new civilian career.

“We are proud to support our servicemen and women, especially as they pursue their entrepreneurial endeavors,” said Mark Whittle, Chief Development Officer for Huddle House. “Offering a discount with the VetFran program is just one small way we show our thanks for them for all that they do for our country.”

Huddle House is proud to have more than 25 franchisees that come from military backgrounds, many of whom are some of the top performers in their respective markets. Whittle attributes this to the training the armed forces provide its service members.

“We have found that military veterans do exceptionally well as franchise owners. They are some of the most disciplined and most respected operators in our system. It’s an honor to call these men and women our franchisees.”

According to Sean Collins, director for G.I. Jobs, the Military Friendly Franchises® list was created three years ago out of demand from military veterans, many of whom want to start or own their own business but are unclear where to begin.

“Being selected as a Military Friendly Franchise places Huddle House in this elite group, and is a testimony to Huddle House’s world class programs and policies that support military veterans interested franchise opportunities,” said Collins.

The list is based on a survey which assesses a company’s long-term commitment to hiring former military, recruiting and hiring efforts and results, retention efforts policies for Reserve/Guard members called to active duty and the presence of special recruitment military programs.

“We couldn’t be more proud to be recognized by G.I. Jobs, being ranked among some of the most respected companies and brands throughout many different industries,” said Whittle. “We can’t wait to welcome even more military veterans into our system and help them make the important transition to civilian life while also honoring their entrepreneurial spirit.”

Huddle House has seen tremendous growth recently and seeks to continue that momentum over the next two years with plans to open 60 new locations as a part of the brand’s accelerated national growth strategy, spearheaded by Whittle Since the launch of its’ new Evolution building design, which includes interior and exterior enhancements, Huddle House has significantly improved the dining experience for customers and is emerging as powerful brand in the family dining category.
