Subway's Latin America & Caribbean Market Becomes a Regional Sensation, in Food & Drink Digital
In a report in Food and Drink Digital, the massive growth of Subway's Latin America & Caribbean division is looked at.
SAN DIEGO, CA, May 23, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In a report in Food and Drink Digital, the massive growth of Subway's Latin America & Caribbean division is looked at. The region, with 2,155 locations across 34 countries, is the international sandwich giant's premier growth market outside of the United States.
With nearly 37,000 locations, the US-based international sandwich giant is the world's largest single-brand restaurant chain. The first Subway Latin America and Caribbean shop opened in Brazil in 1991 and the country is now home to 804 locations, followed by Mexico (566), Puerto Rico (198), Venezuela (163) and Colombia (55).
Regional Director Brian Marino oversees operations and approximately 50 support personnel in offices in Miami, FL and Curitiba, Brazil. Those offices provide the coordination needed to manage rapid growth across the far-flung expanse in several languages (English, Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch and French).
"Latin America is growing faster both in regards to total numbers and percentages than any other region within the company outside of the US," Marino says. "We've provided far more sophisticated support much closer to the market with our regional offices. We determine how we fit within the culture and we excel at what we offer."
Subway Latin America & Caribbean serves up its popular six-inch sandwiches and other products at attractive prices in an upscale restaurant setting and its healthy options are especially appealing in Brazil. "Brazilian consumers really like a healthy product with good taste, which is what we provide. It fits their culture's athletic, active lifestyle," Marino explains.
