PostNet Franchises Rally to Support ALS Association in Fight Against Lou Gehrig's Disease

Company will donate funds from point of sale “pin up” campaign in memory of franchise owner.

Denver, Colo. (PRWEB) July 25, 2012 - PostNet, the nation’s first Neighborhood Business Center, announced today the launch of a nationwide effort from now through September 15, 2012, to raise funds for The ALS Association, the only national non-profit organization fighting Lou Gehrig’s Disease on every front, including research, care services, public education and public policy.

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a devastating disease. Its victims lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, and eventually to breathe. Individuals with the disease typically live two to five years following diagnosis, and ALS can affect anyone at any time. Currently, there are no long-term treatments—or a cure—for Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

PostNet’s philanthropic efforts to support The ALS Association are in honor of one of its franchise owners, Dennis Richard Coogle of Mooresville, N.C., who lost a five-year battle with ALS on July 25, 2011.

“Throughout his illness, Dennis remained an important mentor for many of the owners throughout the PostNet franchise system,” said Steve Greenbaum, co-founder and CEO of PostNet. “He is missed by the PostNet family, and we are eager to work with The ALS Association to move toward finding a cure for the disease that claimed his life.”

From now through September 15, 2012, several hundred PostNet franchise locations across the country will raise funds for The ALS Association primarily through a point of sale “pin-up” campaign. In this campaign, individuals can donate $1 and write their name on a paper pin-up to show their support of the fight against ALS. Other franchises will raise funds through participating in Walk to Defeat ALS events in communities nationwide. Online donations in Coogle’s memory can be made at http://www.alsa.org/postnet.

Coogle and his wife, Sherry, opened their PostNet franchise in Cornelius, N.C. in 2000. Sherry continues to run the day-to-day operations of the small business services franchise.

“Dennis ate, slept and breathed PostNet; he consistently gave his time for fellow franchise owners, and our family certainly received a tremendous amount of support from the PostNet system throughout Dennis’ battle,” said Sherry. “I’ve been overwhelmed and truly blessed by the support I’ve received from our community, and I’m humbled by the fact that the entire PostNet family is honoring Dennis’ legacy by partnering with The ALS Association to raise funds in his memory.”
