East Coast Wings & Grill ‘Dips’ Into Net Sales for Worthy Cause, Offers Pink Chips In Support of Breast Cancer Awareness

September 20, 2012 // Franchising.com // Winston-Salem, NC – Every October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month gives countless groups a platform for awareness campaigns and fundraising opportunities. So why not pink tortilla chips? For the third consecutive year, East Coast Wings & Grill is joining the fight against breast cancer and “chipping” in for a cure.

Known for its 75 different flavors of chicken wings, the North Carolina based casual dining chain will be offering pink tortilla chips and salsa in support of breast cancer awareness, as well as pink collapsible koozies. Each time a guest purchases the $2.99 chips and salsa, 10 percent of the sales will be donated to Susan G. Koman for the Cure and 100 percent of the koozie sales will be donated as well.

In addition, on October 16, “Give Back Night,” 10 percent of the restaurant’s net sales will be donated to the charity.

“It was the right thing to do — the smart thing to do,” said Sam Ballas, CEO of East Coast Wings & Grill. “Our goal is not to increase revenue; our goal is to support the search for a cure. It does bring us recognition for doing a good thing, but it is just a way to get our customers involved. When they order the chips and salsa they’re supporting breast cancer research, too.”

Raising money will not be a problem for this restaurant franchise. While the economy has not been kind to many casual dining restaurant chains, East Coast Wings & Grill has set itself apart from others in the industry. Together, the concept’s 24 North Carolina locations have enjoyed 34 straight consecutive quarters of same store sales increases.

Last year’s “Give Back Night” raised approximately $5,000 system wide.
