Leading Employment Experts to Convene in Salt Lake City

Staffing Industry Leaders to Discuss Job Market, Economy and Business Growth

Feb. 28, 2013 - Oklahoma City - As America’s economy continues to recover and employment numbers begin to improve, leading staffing industry experts from Express Employment Professionals will convene in Salt Lake City at the company’s International Leadership Conference (ILC) from Wednesday, Feb. 27 through Saturday, March 2 at the Grand America Hotel.

“This conference gives us the chance to bring together many leading minds in the staffing industry to discuss how to positively impact unemployment, create business opportunities and help small businesses grow and succeed,” said Bob Funk, CEO and chairman of the board for Express Employment Professionals, the nation’s largest privately held staffing company.

Attended by members of more than 600 Express franchise offices worldwide, the conference will commemorate the company’s 30-year anniversary and celebrate its record year of growth. Funk, who founded Express in 1983 and was named to the International Franchising Association (IFA) Hall of Fame in 2010, will deliver the opening session address, where he will discuss the record sales year and announce plans for future expansion.

“We are committed to doubling our efforts to put even more people to work in 2013, with an eventual goal of helping a million associates find jobs,” Funk said. “We anticipate the jobs outlook will continue to improve as the U.S. economy gains traction during the second half of 2013, resulting in increased hiring and a continued gradual decline in the unemployment rate.”

In 2012, Express put more than 367,000 job seekers to work, up from 341,000 the previous year, and posted the highest sales totals in the company’s 30-year history – over $2.3 billion, up 10 percent from 2011. Since 2009, Express has increased total sales by 101 percent.

And that should continue to increase if current projections hold true. The January 2013 American Staffing Association Staffing Index, which measures employment in the U.S. staffing industry, rose 3.7 percent for the month versus a year ago. Additionally, a September 2012 report by Staffing Industry Analysts forecasts six percent growth for staffing in 2013 and predicted demand for several segments – including information technology, engineering, and industrial – would hit all-time highs.

In light of these findings and the growing demand for temporary workers, Express anticipates growth of 10 percent in 2013 with an overall goal of employing 1 million people annually.

In addition to Funk, other keynote speakers include former Arkansas governor and current Fox News host Mike Huckabee, bestselling author and FranklinCovey consultant Chris McChesney, author and speaker Ken Blanchard, Hall of Fame inductee and former NFL quarterback Terry Bradshaw, and tech entrepreneur Scott Klososky. Also, singers Amy Grant and Sheryl Crow will perform.

Express opened 40 franchise locations in 2012, and plans to add 48 additional locations in 2013, targeting strategic markets in 30 states and Canada. Key areas for growth include Utah, California, Nevada and Idaho, among others.
