Russo’s Restaurants Celebrates Opening Tulsa’s First Russo’s Coal-Fired Italian Kitchen

Russo’s Restaurants Continues Historic Level of U.S. Expansion

Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) July 26, 2013 - The wait is over in Tulsa. Russo’s Coal-Fired Italian Kitchen has arrived. Now, Tulsa residents can savor the tastes, aromas and unmistakable ambiance of an authentic New York-style pizzeria. The well-known upscale Italian restaurant that brings to life old world charm and hospitality is slated to open in early September at the Tuscany Village (situated at 8941 South Yale Ave. in Tulsa).

“Right from the moment customers walk in they will know they’ve come somewhere special. They’re getting a true ‘slice’ of New York in Oklahoma,” said Richard Martinez who is partnering with his brother George to open the restaurant. “Everything is made from fresh ingredients. From the giant slices of pizza and the calzones to the pasta, these are traditional Italian dishes served just the way our guests would expect.”

The Tulsa Coal-Fired Italian Kitchen is the first Russo’s Restaurant to open in Oklahoma and will act as a flagship store for future locations. The expansion of the brand in the state signals the start of significant franchise growth for the brand throughout the United States. Russo’s completed agreements to open more than 10 new restaurants in Hawaii and Texas (San Antonio and Austin). The 12-month period from mid-2012 to today represents the brand’s most aggressive growth phase.

“Opening in Tulsa is a momentous occasion for Russo’s Coal-Fired Italian Kitchen. This will be the first of eight stores will open in the Tulsa area,” said Anthony Russo, a formally trained chef who opened his first Russo’s New York Pizzeria in 1992. “We couldn’t be happier about carrying on the Russo’s tradition with a new restaurant in Tulsa and doing so with a team as gifted as the Martinezs. With their qualifications, Russo’s has a bright future in the region.”

The Russo’s name has become synonymous with coal-fired New York style pizza and authentic Italian meals. Beyond the brand’s specialty pizzas, menu items include fresh salads (Insalata), soups (Zuppe) and homemade pastas. Authentic Italian cannoli’s, fresh seafood, chicken, veal, and flatbread sandwiches are just some of the distinctive dishes on the menu. Russo’s Coal-Fired Italian Kitchen and its traditional Italian recipes trace their origins to a tight-knit family where the kitchen was the center of all activity. As a young child, Anthony helped his grandmother roll dough for cannolis, carefully wrapping it around four-inch wooden broomsticks to get the right shape before it cooked. By the age of 12 Anthony was learning authentic Italian recipes. Earning the Chef’s distinction as an 18-year-old, Anthony honed his skills as a culinary expert working in his parent’s fine Italian restaurant and then opened his own pizzeria while still a young man. He then opened Anthony’s Pizzeria in Clear Lake, Texas, and later two restaurants in Houston; one named Café Anthony and the other named Russo Café Anthony, an upscale Italian restaurant.

Highlighting the performance of Russo’s Coal-Fired Italian Kitchen and Russo’s New York Pizzeria is the 24 percent average net profit and the average food cost of well below the national average at 21 percent. Plus, average gross sales are $550 per square foot. For entrepreneurs interested in the franchise opportunity, Russo’s requires a low down payment of 20 to 30 percent to launch your own restaurant. Third party financing is available.
